BEAUTY DIARIES: MY FAVORITE MEDSPA TREATMENTS

January 21, 2021 By houseofhargrove@gmail.com

Yall know I love sharing all the things and keeping it real .  I love trying new skincare, masks, beauty treatments, etc and I get asked about them all the time.  Today’s edition of Beauty Diaries is all about my favorite medspa treatments.

If you follow me on Instagram you have seen me share many different procedures.  I like to take yall along so you see how it is done and it removes some of the fear of the unknown.  I get all my treatments done at Le Beau Visage and cannot say enough amazing things about them.  Everyone is so wonderful, knowledgeable and talented.  Dr. Riehs and is staff are the best!

HERE ARE THE TREATMENTS I HAVE HAD:

Here is a recap of all the treatments I have had.  I will share my favorites further below.

  • INJECTIBLES: Botox, Dysport, Jeuveau, Lip Flip
    • These are all different Neurotoxins that relax the muscles and reduce wrinkles.  Some people prefer one over another.  Honestly, I didn’t notice a huge difference between Botox and Dysport, but Botox is my favorite option.  I didn’t feel Jeuveau lasted as long.  Everyone is different and you have to find the one that works best for you.
    • The LIP FLIP is just a Botox treatment where they inject above your lip and it gives relaxes the muscle so you are not able to tuck your lip in.  It gives the appearance of a much fuller lip without filler.  I LOVE this treatment.

BEFORE AND AFTER LIP FLIP. YOU CAN SEE MY UPPER LIP IS FULLER IN THE RIGHT PHOTO

  • LASER: IPL Laser
    • I have very fair skin so I have lots of pigmentation issues from sun damage, Melasma, aging, etc.  IPL Lasers help break up the pigmentation in your skin and remove the dark spot
  • FILLER: Cheeks, Tear Trough
    • CHEEKS:  After losing a bunch of weight and getting older my face was starting to look hollow in some areas.  I had minor cheek filler put in to help raise back up my cheek bones
    • TEAR TROUGH:  I had very sunken, dark circles under my eyes and this filler helps to fill in the area under your eye to make everything look younger and brighter.

  • OTHER: Skin Pen, Hydrafacial
    • SKIN PEN:  The SkinPen device is equipped with several ultra-fine needles that create micro-channels in the skin once contact is made. It helps produce collagen which fights aging and helps with pigmentation and skin texture.
    • HYDRAFACIAL:  This facial leaves your skin glowing!  It removes dead skin, helps with skin tone, fine lines, hydration, etc.

MY top 3 FAVORITE MEDSPA TREATMENTS:

Ok, this is hard to answer because I really love all of them, but if I had to pick my top 3 they would be IPL, Botox and Skin Pen.  These are the treatments that have made the biggest difference in my skin.  Having said that everyone’s skin and skincare needs are different.

If you are local I highly recommend Le Beau Visage.  They have given me amazing results and I know I am in the best hands.  They offer free consultations to let you know what is the very best for your skincare needs!  Almost all MedSpas offer these so be sure to go in for a consultation so you can prioritize your needs.

1. BOTOX:

As I mentioned above I have tried 3 different types of Neurotoxins.  They all basically do the same thing.  My body seems to like Botox the best.  I feel like I get the best results from Botox with Dysport as a close 2nd.  I’ve heard it is good to switch them up so your body doesn’t get to used to one of them and stop working as well.  I’m in my late 30s and I get Botox every 3-4 months.  I honestly feel it is the biggest bang for your buck.  You instantly look younger and over time it allows your skin to fill in the wrinkles you already have and since your muscles are relaxed you are not creating new wrinkles with constant movement.

You can read more about my Botox|Dysport experience HERE and I answer some of the most asked questions.  (Dr. Riehs, Carla and Audrey have all done my botox and are all amazing.)

2. IPL:

Laser treatment has done wonders for my skin.  As I mentioned I am super fair skinned and have lots of sun damage.  My skin just looked “ruddy”.  It wasn’t bright and glowy and IPL helped so much.  I had it done on my face, neck, shoulders and arms.  It has removed so much of the pigmentation issues I had.  I seriously cannot belive the difference.   When I look back and younger pictures of me before I had laser treatment I look so much older!  I cannot believe how much all that pigmentation aged me.  This treatment is not for everyone.  If you don’t have dark spots on your skin, it is not for you.  Your Medspa can help you decide the best treatments for your skin.

Here are some of the before & after pictures I took after 1 IPL treatment on my shoulders, arms and chest.  You can see a HUGE difference after just 1 treatment.  Top picture is directly after treatment and bottom picture is a few weeks after.  There is zero downtime for this procedure. (I go to Jamie at LBV).

Here is a before and after of my face.  I was trying to show a good photo of all my freckles and find a large age gap.  This is 28 vs 38.  Keep in mind the photo on the left is literally hours after giving birth to Avery.  I am tired and drugged.  Not the best picture, but it shows how much sun damage I had.

28 vs 38. You can see in 38 year old picture my skin is clearer (IPL), and my lips are fuller (Lip Flip Botox). Wrinkles about the same (Botox).  My eyebrows are also thicker which is due to the incredible powers of microblading! I also have fuller/thicker lashes…thank you Rodan Fields Lash Boost!

3. SKINPEN

Yall, SkinPen is amazing and I think pretty much anyone can benefit from it.  It basically airbrushes your skin.  The SkinPen is a tiny wand with a bunch of microneedles that go into your skin and produce collagen and lots of other magic.  It makes my skin glow, it reduces my poresize, it helps with pigmentation, wrinkles and acne.  It’s a wonder tool.  They put numbing cream all over your skin so you honestly cannot feel the skin pen.  It kind of feels like Microdermabrasion if you have ever had that done.  The only thing I can feel is around my nose and it only tickles and makes me feel like I have to sneeze.  There is zero downtime.  Afterwards your face is red like a sunburn for a little while, but you can cover that with makeup.  My skin gets a little dry for a few days, but then it is radiant!  I LOVE SKINPEN!!!  (I go to Jamie at LBV.)

Seriously, it was so hard to choose just 3!!  The other procedure I have had that was a HUGE game changer, but not really in this category was microblading.  I had an over plucking situation in the 7th grade that never grew back!  How is that fair?!  I pluck grey hairs all the time and they come back with a vengeance, but my eyebrows . . . nope!  They never came back.  As you can see from that lovely photo above, my eyebrows were basically non-existant.  I hated them, but microblading wasn’t a think back then so I was just praying for new technology to be invented and Voila . . . microblading became a thing!

I hope this was helpful in sharing a little more about these medspa treatments.  If you have any questions feel free to leave them in the comments.  You can read more from my BEAUTY DIARIES HERE.

When designing our home I pulled inspiration from all over! Pinterest, Instagram, magazine, design books, etc. we had this long spot in our front entry that we were trying to figure out and when I saw this image (swipe to see) in @gilschaferthearchitect ‘s book it stopped me in my tracks. I loved the use of transoms and designated spaces. My architect @josephpaulhomes & his wife Michelle helped pull the whole look together. So happy with how it turned out.

My grandfather owned a grocery store in New Jersey. The scale hanging from the ceiling in our butler’s pantry was the scale in his store. My uncle had it for the longest time & gifted it to me when we moved into this home. I love it so much!! My mom has the cash register he used in his store in her home. I love decorating with items that have meaning & that tell a story.

I love hallways & nooks. They are a great way to add interest to your home. Natural light & details are key. This space connects our hearth room to the gameroom. The Dutch door goes out to our courtyard, the room at the end is my office and the door to the left (just out of the photo) goes to the pool bath. Lots going on in this space.
I saw this floor pattern in a design book & had to have it somewhere in our home. I love it so much!

Bathrooms are such a fun space to make bold choices. They are small so every decision & detail makes a big impact. Still in love with this wallpaper from @wallpapersgalore_

✨REMODEL UPDATE: FAMILY ROOM✨

This family room had good bones, but we needed to declutter , maximize storage, update furnishings & make the space more functional.

There was a wall of shelves that was just too much. We purged and decorated with items that she loved & had sentimental value. So many homes are built with tons of open shelving and you have to be really careful in these spaces because they can become a spot for clutter instead of being intentional.
•added cabinet doors to 2 sections of shelves for some much-needed hidden storage.
•utilized the shelving that was separate from the other ones to make a designated bar space that is intentional and great for entertaining.
•found an gorgeous antique bar back to go against the wall that again is used as a bar when they entertain. Previously, it was a huge bench that took up width, but added no height to the wall. This is a major focal point in this space so we made it both functional and beautiful.
• I am not a huge fan of sectional couches unless they are in very specific areas. I think sometimes when people have a big room, they look for a big furniture to take up the space but it doesn’t actually give you the most seating and the spacing is sometimes awkward. They still really wanted a leather couch in there so we kept that, but then used more tailored chairs to frame the space.
• found this gorgeous coffee table on Facebook marketplace. Such a find!
•Removed the huge windmill fan that really took away from the gorgeous architecture of the ceiling with the beams.
•filled in dead space with functional furniture, like a cute table perfect for game night.
•scaled back the TV so it made more sense over the fireplace and went with a frame one so there could be pretty art up there as it is a main focal point. (Art was off in this photo, but typically it looks like a vintage painting)

So excited with how this space turned out. It’s lighter, brighter, more functional & a better use of space. They have walls of windows along the back of the house with a beautiful view and now you’re able to focus on that more.

✨REMODEL UPDATE: DAUGHTER’S BATHROOM ✨

Throughout this remodel you will see two constant goals…brighten up the spaces & add functional storage. This bathroom was dark & dated. We took everything out and had a fresh start.

•New paint, wallpaper, tile, fixtures, lighting, etc.
•Raised the height of the counters & some additional cabinetry extending up to the ceiling for much needed storage.
•Added cute details to the side of the counters
•Removed the tub & added a glass door to the shower to make the space feel bigger & more open.

This sweet girl has brought us so much joy! We are “foster failures” & couldn’t be happier about it. Callie has been the best addition to our family.
Chat GPT made this cute art from our Christmas picture of her. She was living her best life with all the ribbon from the presents.

I love a mudroom! I don’t care what size house I live in from here on out I’ll always have some “mudroom” space…even if it’s a tiny little spot. It’s so great to have a drop zone to keep organized. This space got lots of use during our ice storm with all the wet shoes, etc & these brick floors were great!!

Feels strange getting back to work this week. We’ve been living in PJs and been asking what day it was for about a week now. Snowmageddon 2026 was fun & we still have piles of ice on the ground….BUT nice to go back to a bit of a routine. January felt like 47 days 🤪
