We had a 4 day weekend in February and decided to take a quick little getaway to Mexico. We love to travel and with Covid the last coupe of years we put lots of things on hold, so we are making up for lost time. We went with our family and some of our best friends and had the best time! I shared behind the scenes on Instagram stories and got lots of questions so hope to answer those today!
We stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel in Riviera Maya. It was a wonderful hotel for kids. It was an all inclusive hotel with a family side and an adult side. We love going to Mexico, we typically go annually on an adults trip (here are some of our favorite adult only resorts), but we were looking for a new family hotel, and this one was great. There were tons of activities to keep everyone entertained.
There is a main pool area that is huge and one side of it has a slide that the kids loved. We would pretty much set up there most days because the kids loved sliding. They also had a zip line from the top of that slide down to the ocean. There was a weight limit so unfortunately Avery was the only kids that weighed enough to ride it, but she loved it.
This white swirly building is where the slide was. The zip line was on top of it and went down to the ocean.
The beach was awesome, because it was in a little cove area so there was little to no seaweed, very calm waters, pretty fish and as the kids put it. . .they didn’t have to worry about sharks! The sand was pretty and the kids had fun making sandcastles and playing. There were also paddle boards and such you could check out and play on.
The hotel was very pretty and the food was great. We would eat at the breakfast buffet in the morning, eat pool side for lunch and then made reservations at one of the restaurants in the evening. There are a few adult only restaurants and then the rest are open to everyone. We loved the steak restaurant and the Hibachi restaurant. Our Hibachi chef was incredible.
Being silly at dinner!
Another thing about the Hard Rock that was so great for kids was the waterpark. They have a decent size waterpark on the side of the resort. There is a little kid area with multiple small slides, splash zone, etc. A medium size kid area with bigger slides, a huge dump bucket, a climb zone, etc and then a big kid area with 4 large slide you ride down on mats, and then 2 really steep slides. Fun for everyone. Unfortunately I didn’t get any photos there. We were having too much fun!
We didn’t go to any of the shows at night because we ended up staying at the pool until late and ate dinner during the shows. We went to some of the live music and stuff in the atrium and the kids loved that. Being that is a Hard Rock Hotel, there was a bunch of memorabilia everywhere and great music playing!
Here is a great video of the resort. You really get an idea of what to expect from this video. Unfortunately they have closed the indoor ninja zone area. My kids would have loved that, but it is no longer there.
If you are looking for a fun family vacation we really enjoyed our stay! Let me know if you have any other questions in the comments! Thanks
