The thought of wallpaper used to make me feel a little queezy…you know the kind…floral, paisley, strange fruit with matching borders…YIKES…well not anymore. As I like to say…” It aint your grandma’s wallpaper”. These days there are so many amazing choices out there. I have a particular love for barn wood wallpaper. Thanks to Joanna Gaines walls everywhere have pretty much changed (hello #shiplap), but if you don’t want to run out to your nearest barn, take apart a pallet and spend your weekend hammering 5000 nails, barn wood wallpaper might be the right choice for you. When we designed our home I knew I wanted my office to have a tre-ceiling with barn wood wallpaper at the top. We textured the ceilings to give an even more realistic look to the wallpaper. While I love the wallpaper in my office, my absolute favorite is the wallpaper in my guest bedroom. It is not the cheapest wallpaper in the world, BUT it is incredible and makes a huge statement! When we build our farmhouse one day I will be buying it again. It looks even better in person. SO much easier than putting up real wood and everyone thinks it is real! I love a good DIY, but when you do a wall of real wood you have to consider your baseboards and molding…you don’t want the wood plank wall to stick out further than your molding.
