I love having kids and I love decorating and YES these two things can go together. HAHA. We love our home, make tons of memories there, get it messy, but then we clean it up. I am a firm believer that things can be pretty and functional. I want my kids being kids, but I also think outside of the box when it comes to toy storage, etc and can find something I love that works for their needs. When Avery was a baby and started becoming mobile it was time to get a baby gate. I am not going to lie…I have always hated baby gates. They are necessary, but I feel like so many of them look really cheap. I set out to find the perfect baby gate and I LOVE the one we found.
My home has 2 openings that needed gates and one is right when you walk in the front door….not exactly where I want an ugly looking baby gate. You know…”Welcome to my home and please ignore the baby jail :)”. It’s also a huge opening so I wasn’t sure if I was going to find one that would fit. I do like the Pinterest ones you see where they are wooden looking barn doors, but I didn’t want to spend a ton, didn’t want to screw holes into my wall and didn’t want something that bulky. It’s funny…some of the top questions I get on my Instagram are “what are your paint colors?” and “where did you get your baby gate?” I went on the hunt and found the Summer Infant Extra Tall gate in Bronze and it was perfect! You can get it HERE on Amazon or HERE from Target (if you have a Target Card you save 5%)
BABY GATE REVIEW
(I am NOT being paid for this post. I just have been so happy with it I had to share)
STYLE: The bronze color really blends in and looks more expensive. We have wood floors so I just feel like it flows better. I love the arch on the gate because again it looks more designer and expensive (even though it isn’t)
FUNCTION: It opens either direction and auto locks when you walk through. It is easy to open with one hand which is great when coming through it holding a kid or with your hands full. I used the pressure mounting bolts and it works great and is really secure. It does come with screw in hardware if you want to use that also.
SIZE: It is extra tall so I feel like it keeps the kids in better, they cannot climb it and I like not having to bend over to open it. It is 36″ tall (other gates are more around 30″ tall). It fits from 28″-48″ and comes with two 4-1/2-inch extensions and one 9-inch extension. The included extensions allow for an accurate, secure fit.
PRICE: I think the price is great. It is only $63.44 on Amazon right now with FREE shipping! It is $63.99 at Target
REVIEWS: Out of 3541 reviews on Amazon it got a 4.5 star review!!! That is pretty amazing. The Target reviews are also great.
I have now used this gate for 4 years through 2 kids including an active toddler boy who loves to stand on it. It has held up great. I really cannot say enough about how happy I am with this baby gate. If you have kids this is the one for you.

Here are some more pictures of it throughout my home. This is the one by our back staircase off the mudroom and garage.
Trying to escape….
Here is the one right off our front door
This is right after we got our wood floors done and before we added my favorite rug.
I will be sharing more tips on how I organize baby/kid things and keep it within my decor style. I wouldn’t trade this phase for anything. I LOVE having littles run around…especially when they are contained with a cute baby gate 🙂
