Beauty Diaries: Botox | Dysport

June 11, 2019 By houseofhargrove@gmail.com

Hi friends.  It has been about 6 weeks since I have had my Dysport and today I am sharing my results.  I have had lots of questions about my treatment so today I will try to answer all of them.

BEAUTY DIARIES: DYSPORT

If you ask me “what is the biggest bang for your buck when it comes to decorating”  I always say. . .PAINT!  Paint can completely transform a room.  If you ask me the biggest bang for your buck when it comes to beauty. . .I would say Botox|Dysport.  Not only does it take away your current wrinkles, but it is preventative.  While your muscles are frozen you are not creating new or deeper wrinkles.  I truly think it can make you look many years younger.  I am 36 and looking for small ways to enhance my appearance without doing anything drastic.  Botox is the answer.  I LOVE it and it is something I will continue doing.

I tried the Botox Lip Flip technique this time and it was also amazing. It gave me fuller looking lips without filler. You can read all about that HERE.  I’ve heard it doesn’t last as long as other Botox treatments because you use your mouth so often, but I am 6 weeks out and it is still going strong.  This was my 4th Botox|Dysport treatment.  I have had 3 previous Botox treatments and this time I decided to try Dysport.  They do the same thing, but are different brands.  You will find people who swear by one over the other, but with my personal experience I cannot tell the difference.  I like both.

Personally I don’t think it matters if you do Botox or Dysport, but what is SUPER IMPORTANT is going to a great injector!!  My last Botox treatment was at a local plastic surgeons office and honestly, I hated it!  He gave me way too much and put it in the wrong spots.  I looked frozen and it made my eyebrows look crazy.  After that treatment, I was scared to do it again for awhile.  I was always on the lookout for people I knew who had amazing Botox results and I would ask them who they went to. . . time after time I would hear Dr. Riehs from Le Beau Visage.  My best friend goes to him and her results are always incredible.  I started following his social media and looking at his before and afters and loved what I saw.  That is when I decided to try it again and I am so glad I did.

Dr. Riehs is a magician.  He definitely takes a “less is more” approach which I love.  He says you can always add more if you need too.  I love this.  You go in for a consultation and he works up a plan for you and then you go in for treatment and back 2 weeks later so he can check everything out, evaluate if you need any more, how your face responded to it, etc.  He can make tweaks or whatever is needed to get the results you want.  Dr. Riehs is an MD and he is actually an injectable trainer that teaches other people around the country on how to do it.  He is “is recognized throughout the country as an elite Botox and Restylane/Perlane injector.”  That let me know I was in great hands.  Not only, did my results look better than ever, but he had such a gentle touch.   I am terrified of needles and I am not kidding that there were several injections I literally never felt!  That is saying something because I am a total weenie!

HERE ARE MY RESULTS:

Dysport completely got rid of my forehead wrinkles (and I had a lot of them). I am trying to raise my eyebrows in the after photo, but as you can see they don’t raise very much. I am not frozen looking in person, but my wrinkles are GONE!

In this photo, you can see my frown lines are almost completely gone. I am trying to frown in the second photo, but I cannot really do it. Previously I had 2 “11 wrinkles” in between my brows, but now that I cannot make that expression, my body has filled them in with collagen and they are completely gone. Amazing!

Here you can see my crows feet are significantly reduced! I love this one! Genetically I have always had a lot of creases near my eye, but as I have aged they have gotten worse. I think wrinkles around your eyes really ages you so I love that these are gone. You can also see there is a slight brow lift which opens up my eyes more.

Here you can see the before and after from having the “Lip Flip” done. My upper lip looks significantly more full. You can read all about this treatment HERE

MOST ASKED QUESTIONS:

WHAT AREAS DO I GET BOTOX?: I get it around my eyes to help with crowsfeet, between my eyebrows to help with frown marks, it my upper forehead to give a brow lift and to reduce forehead wrinkles

HOW MANY UNITS?: This varies per person, but this time I had 51 units.  Dysport is a different calculation, but most people talk in Botox units so 51 would be my Botox amount.

DOES IT HURT?: Not really.  I say that because it really depends on your injector.  I hate needles, so I am more sensitive to them than most.  I have had Botox treatments that hurt more than others.  Dr. Riehs is amazing.  It does not hurt with him.

HOW MANY PRICKS DO YOU GET?: This varies per person, but for me I would say 18-20.

WHAT I LOVE THE MOST ABOUT BOTOX|DYSPORT?: It makes you look younger, it is preventative, it gives you a mini brow lift so your eyes look more open and youthful and it can make your lips look more full without filler.

WHERE DO YOU GO?:  I go to Le Beau Visage and if you are local I highly recommend them.  Dr. Riehs is incredible and the entire staff is wonderful.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?: This also varies per place, but I would say between $11-15 per unit.  Le Beau Visage offers specials often.

HOW OFTEN DO YOU HAVE TO GET IT DONE?: I will probably do it every 4-5 months.  That is typically when it wears off.  Even if you don’t keep up with it that much though it reduces the speed your skin creates wrinkles, because for several months your are not constantly making facial expressions that cause wrinkles so it buys you time.

HOW OLD WERE YOU WHEN YOU FIRST HAD BOTOX?: I was 30.  I wanted to start using it as a preventative measure.

DO YOUR PREFER BOTOX OR DYSPORT?: Personally I couldn’t tell the difference.  I love both.

If you are considering getting Botox|Dysport I hope this helped you.  If you have any other questions leave them in the comments below and I will reply.  If you are local and looking for a great place you will love Le Beau Visage!  That is where I personally go and love the results.

Thank you to Le Beau Visage for partnering on this post.  All opinions are my own and I only partner with companies I truly love and stand behind.

When designing our home I pulled inspiration from all over! Pinterest, Instagram, magazine, design books, etc. we had this long spot in our front entry that we were trying to figure out and when I saw this image (swipe to see) in @gilschaferthearchitect ‘s book it stopped me in my tracks. I loved the use of transoms and designated spaces. My architect @josephpaulhomes & his wife Michelle helped pull the whole look together. So happy with how it turned out.

My grandfather owned a grocery store in New Jersey. The scale hanging from the ceiling in our butler’s pantry was the scale in his store. My uncle had it for the longest time & gifted it to me when we moved into this home. I love it so much!! My mom has the cash register he used in his store in her home. I love decorating with items that have meaning & that tell a story.

I love hallways & nooks. They are a great way to add interest to your home. Natural light & details are key. This space connects our hearth room to the gameroom. The Dutch door goes out to our courtyard, the room at the end is my office and the door to the left (just out of the photo) goes to the pool bath. Lots going on in this space.
I saw this floor pattern in a design book & had to have it somewhere in our home. I love it so much!

Bathrooms are such a fun space to make bold choices. They are small so every decision & detail makes a big impact. Still in love with this wallpaper from @wallpapersgalore_

✨REMODEL UPDATE: FAMILY ROOM✨

This family room had good bones, but we needed to declutter , maximize storage, update furnishings & make the space more functional.

There was a wall of shelves that was just too much. We purged and decorated with items that she loved & had sentimental value. So many homes are built with tons of open shelving and you have to be really careful in these spaces because they can become a spot for clutter instead of being intentional.
•added cabinet doors to 2 sections of shelves for some much-needed hidden storage.
•utilized the shelving that was separate from the other ones to make a designated bar space that is intentional and great for entertaining.
•found an gorgeous antique bar back to go against the wall that again is used as a bar when they entertain. Previously, it was a huge bench that took up width, but added no height to the wall. This is a major focal point in this space so we made it both functional and beautiful.
• I am not a huge fan of sectional couches unless they are in very specific areas. I think sometimes when people have a big room, they look for a big furniture to take up the space but it doesn’t actually give you the most seating and the spacing is sometimes awkward. They still really wanted a leather couch in there so we kept that, but then used more tailored chairs to frame the space.
• found this gorgeous coffee table on Facebook marketplace. Such a find!
•Removed the huge windmill fan that really took away from the gorgeous architecture of the ceiling with the beams.
•filled in dead space with functional furniture, like a cute table perfect for game night.
•scaled back the TV so it made more sense over the fireplace and went with a frame one so there could be pretty art up there as it is a main focal point. (Art was off in this photo, but typically it looks like a vintage painting)

So excited with how this space turned out. It’s lighter, brighter, more functional & a better use of space. They have walls of windows along the back of the house with a beautiful view and now you’re able to focus on that more.

✨REMODEL UPDATE: DAUGHTER’S BATHROOM ✨

Throughout this remodel you will see two constant goals…brighten up the spaces & add functional storage. This bathroom was dark & dated. We took everything out and had a fresh start.

•New paint, wallpaper, tile, fixtures, lighting, etc.
•Raised the height of the counters & some additional cabinetry extending up to the ceiling for much needed storage.
•Added cute details to the side of the counters
•Removed the tub & added a glass door to the shower to make the space feel bigger & more open.

This sweet girl has brought us so much joy! We are “foster failures” & couldn’t be happier about it. Callie has been the best addition to our family.
Chat GPT made this cute art from our Christmas picture of her. She was living her best life with all the ribbon from the presents.

I love a mudroom! I don’t care what size house I live in from here on out I’ll always have some “mudroom” space…even if it’s a tiny little spot. It’s so great to have a drop zone to keep organized. This space got lots of use during our ice storm with all the wet shoes, etc & these brick floors were great!!

Feels strange getting back to work this week. We’ve been living in PJs and been asking what day it was for about a week now. Snowmageddon 2026 was fun & we still have piles of ice on the ground….BUT nice to go back to a bit of a routine. January felt like 47 days 🤪
