Avery asked for a dollhouse for Christmas and I am so so excited for Christmas morning for her to get one! I always dreamed of having a daughter and giving her a dollhouse one day. She has so many little figurines and loves playing house with them. I fell in love with the Pottery Barn Kids one, but didn’t want to spend $200 and it wasn’t quite big enough. When I saw the Melissa & Doug one I knew it was perfect, but wanted to give it a little dollhouse makeover.
Here is what it looks like when you order it…
Here is the Pottery Barn Kids one I used as my inspiration.
First thing I did was put the entire thing together. It was really pretty easy to assemble and great quality. All wood! I actually ended up leaving off the stairs, balconies and the 3 gables so I could paint them separately.I started by painting the entire thing white. I used painters tape to cover all the windows and doors and then I used Flat White spray paint to give an even coat to everything. After it dried I removed the painters tape and painted the window trim, stairs and balcony with FolkArt Acrylic Paint in Ash
After everything was painted and dried I attached the roof. It was really pretty simple. Just had to take the time to let everything dry in between steps. I am so happy with the results and cannot wait to see her face!
Here is the final result…
The other thing I love about this dollhouse is it comes with all this furniture! All the other ones I looked at you had to buy it separately so that was another expense. Not only will she love playing with it, but I think it will be so cute in her room! I have a feeling Elsa & Anna will enjoy playing in here…warmer than Arendelle 🙂
