This last weekend Geoff and I went to the most amazing wedding! It was a fairy tale story and the location was the most beautiful, perfect setting I have ever seen.
You all know….I LOVE barns! I asked Geoff if we could get married all over again just to get married in a barn. He actually went on and on about the decor too and that is not really like him at all. We both decided we need a barn in the back of our dream farmhouse one day. Fingers crossed!
The wedding was in a small town about an hour outside of Houston. It was held at my friend Lora’s (the bride) family home. It has been in her family since the early 1900s. Her father was raised there and it just has so much family history.
I love homes that have been in the family forever.
Here was the invitation:
EVERY DETAIL WAS PERFECTION!!! I mean they didn’t miss anything!
This was the view when we arrived
We parked behind the barn and as we walked in we were greeted with the cutest details.
First there was this tractor with Just Married on it…perfect photo opp!
Then there was this table with lots of cute pics of the happy couple and a wooden box full of fans. Genius for an outdoor wedding. Look at the adorable chalkboard sign! The programs were in the metal bucket sitting on the bench.
Next you walked by a table with drinks in large country canisters. I loved all the baby’s breath flowers. So simple and perfect!
As you continued to walk around the yard you passed this wine table. Again such a cute sign and you wrote your name with chalk pens on your wine glass for the night.
There was a country table set up with vintage cow bells showing the guests which table they were at. During the ceremony when Lora and Joe were pronounced Husband and Wife all the guests rang these bells. AMAZING!
Details of bell and fan
The barn sits behind the main house. They got married in between the open doors and the reception was held inside. The weather was just beautiful and there were birds chirping as they said their vows…I mean seriously…fairy tale!
The white doors on the side opened up after the ceremony and the bar was on that side.
This tent was set up next to the house and across from the barn. This is where we had dinner.

Here are the programs. All of the food was based on family recipes and it was so yummy! You can see on the program that they paid tribute to each family member who inspired the food. The cake was made by Amanda (one of Lora’s best friends) who has an incredible business named Leigh’s Bakers Rack! Check them out here. AND what Texas farm wedding would be complete without Blue Bell Ice Cream?
The table that the Bride/Groom and their family sat at was a huge harvest table built by Lora’s Grandad. Like I mentioned earlier there is so much history on this farm. Again on the program they paid tribute to that by
“Something Old”…Lora’s Dad was born and raised on this farm
Lora’s mom was telling me the story of the barn. Lora’s granddad found it, had it taken apart and every board numbered and then it was shipped to their farm and he rebuilt it by hand! Just incredible!
After dinner the music started playing in the barn and the reception got started. Next to the barn was this beautiful tree with mason jars and candles hanging. It was beautiful during the day, but at night it was amazing.
Look at the little girls playing under the jars…looks like an American Dream postcard
Here is a view of the barn at night…
The beautiful details inside the barn…love the string lights
Here was the “bar” side of the barn, They had huge galvanized buckets full of Texas Beer…Shiner, Bud Light, etc
Here is another cute chalkboard sign above the bar.
Here are the cake and dessert tables.
The happy couple Mr & Mrs Mishler
The toasts…look at that beautiful dress! I LOVED it!! I mean, come on….look at those lace ruffles!
First dance
Joe is the worship leader at their church and his voice is AMAZING!! He played guitar and sang John Legend’s All of Me. It was something out of a movie…not a dry eye in the place!
While the reception was going on there was dancing, smore roasting, and FIREWORKS!!! We all went outside to watch beautiful fireworks go off over the corn fields. We did sparklers as the couple left the barn.
Then as we were all walking out to our cars there was this cute last little detail. We got awesome flashlights (which Avery loves) to help us find our cars.
It was so exciting to be part of this magical evening and celebrate such a beautiful couple. There couldn’t have been anything more perfect. The people, the decor, the memories….P.E.R.F.E.C.T!!
Congrats Mr& Mrs Mishler!!
