Farmhouse Christmas Decor Update

November 28, 2018 By houseofhargrove@gmail.com

We have been busy decking our halls over here.  It is always so much fun to transform your home for the holidays.  It just sets the mood for the fun, festive month ahead.  I wanted to update my decor this year and am so excited with everything I found.  Not only was it beautiful, but the prices were great.  Sharing all the details of my new farmhouse Christmas decor below.

FARMHOUSE CHRISTMAS DECOR

One of my go-to places for beautiful, affordable, quality decor is Walmart and Walmart.com.  Yall seriously need to check them out.  They have such a great assortment of stylish, trendy items that won’t break the bank.  Definitely a great place to get “the look for less”.  They also offer free 2 day shipping on orders over $35 (no membership required) and you can shop by style which is super helpful in narrowing down the options that match the look you are going for.

Recently I was shopping at my local Walmart and took yall along with me on Instagram Stories.  I got so much great feedback from you saying it was so helpful and you were immediately running to your local Walmart to grab these amazing finds.  I LOVE that!  I picked up several things at the store for my holiday decor this year and then found tons of additional great finds online.  Walmart has such a huge assortment.  I fell in love with the line Belham Living.  They had tons of beautiful farmhouse Christmas decor that I know you will love.

I fell in love with this wreath.  It is cream felt with little gold berries and I thought it was so pretty.  It also came in a grey color and had garland to match. The plaid stockings added a nice pop of color and coordinated with the vintage inspired mailbox.  I got the mailbox in the store and it also had a forest green option.  It looks so much like one I got at a boutique years ago, but a fraction of the price!! I found the prettiest, softest velvet throw blanket (ONLY $13) and used it to line the wagon.  These would make a great gift and come in several color options.  I thought this sled Christmas Tree sign (found in stores) was really cute and added it to the wagon as well.

This flocked tree was as steal of a deal.  It is only $35!  It was unlit, but I bought some lights at Walmart and added them to the tree.  The quality was amazing, especially for the price!  Then I added this galvanized metal tree collar I found in the stores to finish the look.  You can find a similar one online here.

I had fun decorating the mantle with these galvanized metal houses (less than $6 in store), led flameless candles, bottle brush trees (found in store) and some garland.

I also found this Fresh Cut Trees sign in the store and while I didn’t end up decorating with it, I wanted you to see what it looked like.  It was super cute and they had a few different options in the store to choose from.

Do you see a theme here?  I loved all the Fresh Cut Christmas Tree signs :).  This one was super cute and the perfect size to decorate a shelf (did I mention ONLY $5!!).

I am so in love with these gold lanterns.  They are from the Better Homes & Gardens line and the quality is incredible!  These would easily have been 4-5 times the cost at another store!  They are so pretty and can be used year round.  The Better Homes & Gardens line is one of my favorite that Walmart carries.  I added some more of the LED flameless candles and a little fake snow to complete the look.  These candles came in a set of 3, have a wax finish, smell like vanilla and have a remote control you can use to turn on and off!  Everyone needs these in their home!

I grouped the candles here and added some more snow and bottle brushes to make a winter scene.

There are so many uses for these galvanized houses and bottle brush trees.  The houses have a hole in the bottom that you can also add an LED candle inside and light them up  There is also a much larger size house lantern that I shared in my post here that I love too!

I had so much fun updating my Christmas decor in this room and I love that I could find great things without spending an arm and a leg.  Many of these items I could also use year round!  Hope you found lots of thing you love and could incorporate into your own decor!  Happy decorating!

When designing our home the kitchen was such an important space. We spend a lot of time in there. I wanted it to be beautiful and functional. Here are some of my favorite features in our kitchen.

I’ve been on the hunt for faux flowers for my outdoor pots and I finally found a winner!!

🌸 comment SHOP and I’ll send you the links

I kept spending lots of money each season on real flowers and it was so much work keeping them alive!

I was looking for a better option and finally found one!

These faux flowers are
•BEAUTIFUL ....always in bloom
•ZERO MAINTENANCE ...no watering, fertilizing, etc
•BUDGET FRIENDLY ...these are priced great and you don’t have to replace them each season
•AND LOOK REAL. Some faux flowers are bad!! These really look good and unless you dig in there you’d never know they are faux

Each pack comes in a bundle of 2 bunches. Each bunch has 7 stems. You can plant 2 ways and I tried both. You can plant the bundle attached together and bend the stems (they are wired) to spread everything out....or....you can cut the bundles apart and plant the stems individually. I ended up doing that and thought they looked more realistic that way. I ended up using 5 packages (10 bunches) for 2 large pots and 1 smaller pot.

I share both ways on IG stories so you can see the difference.

I also removed some soil and added floral foam blocks beneath, recovered with dirt and stuck the flowers in them. I don’t think this step was necessary, but I wanted to make sure they were in there firm.

I’m so excited I now get to enjoy beautiful flowers with zero work 🙌🏻🙌🏻

Last year, Geoff and I added wires up this wall in a diamond trellis pattern. We planted creeping fig, but unfortunately, it all died this winter. I just planted Star Jasmine in its place so really hoping it survives. Texas weather is hard!. Thanks to a little AI magic I was able to create what my ultimate vision is. Fingers crossed it will look like this in a couple of years.

I just learned that May 3 is World Naked Gardening Day 🤣 I seriously can’t believe there is a day dedicated to this, but maybe lots of people need fences 🤷🏼‍♀️😉🌱🌿

Yall I recently discovered you could make fun art on ChatGPT using your own images for free! @ciarakenaston inspired me with her Beatrix Potter images and I did a deep dive and found you can do so many cool things!

🩵 Download ChatGPT if you haven’t already and have fun!

Upload an image. Can be of your home, your family, etc and then type in prompts to have it alter your image. You can play around with it and try all kinds of things but here were my prompts for the video

1. Beatrix Potter inspired illustration
2. Jan Brett inspired illustration
3. Vintage oil painting
4. E.H. Shepard inspired illustration
5. Retro British cottage core style

If you do some be sure to share and tag me. I’d love to see them. Endless possibilities!!
