I truly cannot believe I get to do what I love for a living. I am so truly blessed and thank God every day that I have been able to turn a passion into a business. There have been many highlights that stand out to me so far since starting House of Hargrove, but one of my top career moments just happened!!
Here is the back story…
In May I got the pleasure of meeting Ki Nassauer, Editor of Flea Market Style Magazine. She was in Athens, TX signing copies of the Spring issue of the magazine. (We had 6 autographed copies available for sale at the May Barn Sale). Meeting her was so exciting, because I find her a true inspiration. She is a pioneer in the “junking” world and is the founder of the Junk Bonanza. She got started from having monthly “junk sales” and had so many fans that she has turned it into an unbelievable event and her story is such an inspiration.

Anyway, meeting her was more than I could have imagined. She is the sweetest, most down to earth woman and I had such an amazing time getting to talk to her. I told her about House of Hargrove, our barn sales, etc and she said she would check out my website. I got an email from her the next day saying that she loved my vintage hardware signs and would love to feature them in the Fall/Winter edition of Flea Market Style magazine!!!
Being that this is my favorite magazine…I couldn’t have been more excited!
Ki and I emailed a few times and she told me that Heather Bullard will be shooting the feature!! Heather is my other inspiration in the business. Another incredible woman who has made such an amazing name for herself! She is the Senior Editor at Flea Market Style and has an incredible website.
I got busy making some signs with the requested word SHINE on them. Here are the 2 I sent in.
They chose the blue one for the feature! They are made on old cabinet doors that have been refinished and distressed with vintage hardware applied to spell out a word.
Here are some of the previous signs we have made that have found homes:

After the shoot I received them back and it was so fun to receive a package from Heather Bullard LLC!
Anyway, I have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of my Fall/Winter Flea Market Style magazine and it arrived today! House of Hargrove is featured on page 15!!
I feel so honored to be included in this magazine! If you haven’t checked it out before there are so many amazing DIY ideas, inspirational photos and stories. The magazine will be available in stores such as Target, CVS, Barnes & Noble, Lowes and Home Depot by the end of August. You can also order it online HERE.
The Shine sign featured in this article will be available for sale at the September Barn Sale! Hope to see you all there.
Thank you so much for all of your support! I have met some of the nicest people doing this business and I look forward to meeting even more of you!
