I have been revealing all of our wallpaper over the last couple of weeks. You can see our Mudroom & Butlers Pantry HERE, our Pantry nook HERE, our Pool Bath HERE and today I am sharing our Guest Bathroom! I wanted our guest bathroom to feel like you were at a high end boutique hotel. Here are all the details.
The guest bathroom is attached to the guest bedroom and also has a door to the back hallway. When we have guests staying over we lock the hallway door so it is a private ensuite bathroom, but when we don’t have guests it functions as a spare bathroom for anyone who needs to use it. If you are building or remodeling this is a great use of sq footage. Having a gorgeous bathroom that is hardly ever used is a waste of space if you can avoid it.
This bathroom is all about the details. The shower is white glossy subway tile laid out in an interesting pattern. This is a good budget saving tip. You don’t have to do marble on the walls, you can elevate basic tile with classic patterns. The floor is Cararra Marble 1″ hexagon tiles that we carried onto the shower floor.
The trim and cabinets are SW Alabaster. The countertop is also Carrara Marble honed. We did a fun little detail on the sides to give it extra interest. I love a faucet that comes from the wall. Not only is it beautiful, but it is easier to clean the counters. I love the way we turned the entire wall into a mirror. My builder’s wife, Michelle, helped me come up with this design and it turned out great. I love the look of mixed metal so we did chrome on everything except the sconces. We went with brass on those for some added warmth.
The real show stopper in this bathroom is the stunning Schumacher wallpaper. It is called Chenonceau in Aquamarine. It is a soft blue/green. If you are local check out Wallpapers Galore. They have a sample of it in their store so you can see it in person. The photos don’t do it justice. It was a wonderful texture to it. There is a reason Schumacher is so popular, the quality is incredible.
The wallpaper really makes the most beautiful statement and gives the bathroom such charm, while being relaxing and timeless. I wanted to achieve a luxury southern boutique hotel vibe. I imagine staying in an historic, charming Charleston hotel with this wallpaper.
I love the way the guest bath turned out and now I need to get busy on the guest bedroom! More details on that coming soon!
