Hi friends. Hope everyone is hanging in there during these crazy times. We have had a lot going on over here behind the scenes so I thought it was time for a house selling update. If you follow me on Instagram stories I have shared some of the news, but here is an update.
house selling update: corona edition
As many of your know we put our house on the market last year and realized for our price point we needed to have a pool. It was a little unorthodox thinking to put in a pool to sell your home, but after lots of research we decided it was the right move. We took our home off the market in the Fall and started building a new pool in January. During this time I also had my mommy makeover so was pretty much house bound for a month. Even though we were off the market, we were still a pocket listing with our realtor and were starting to get lots of inquiries about our home and asking to see it before it went on the market. Unfortunately, we were not able to do this at the time because I was not able to leave our home. We kept saying we would be coming onto the market soon so stay tuned.
Right before I was cleared to leave the house we had some interested buyers (from out of town) contact our realtor and ask to come see our home because they would be in town for the weekend and didn’t want to wait because they really loved what they saw online and were worried it would sell before they were able to come back and see it. Since I was almost cleared to leave the house and we were planning on going onto the market the following week we agreed to let them come see it. They fell in love with our home, made a full priced offer and we were under contract.
I was so excited to have this behind us and start our new chapter. We still had a month til closing so I searched for a rental for our family during this time. Finding a rental in the area we live is NOT EASY!! There are hardly any rental properties available and if you live out of district the tuition is crazy expensive. We got so lucky and found the perfect rental that I was SOOOOO EXCITED ABOUT!! I could not wait to share it with yall. It was literally perfect and felt like God had answered a lot of prayers and everything was FINALLY lining up. We were due to close at the end of March and everything looked good. . . until Corona hit.
We have all been affected by Corona in one way or another and some way worse than others. We are so blessed to say that luckily we have not been sick and don’t know anyone sick from this awful virus, but it has definitely affected us in other ways. Long story short, our buyers backed out and our deal fell through. I was so disappointed. At the end of the day we are fine, and it is just a house deal, but it seemed like a long road that had finally hit an end and we were moving onto the next chapter. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case. Good news is we are able to stay in our home and enjoy our new pool which we have been loving. Big picture, everything will be fine, it was just a tough blow since everything seemed lined up so perfectly. I was so excited about our rental, but due to our house not selling we will no longer be going to that rental property.
All this being said our house is now officially on the market (it never officially went on the market before because it sold before we went live on MLS). They market has slowed way down due to Corona, however people are still looking and want to get settled before the new school year. So, if you or someone you know is looking for a home in Lovejoy School districts, ours is available. We are priced super competitively for the area and we have a brand new pool with full warranty.
NOTABLE THINGS ABOUT OUR HOME:
- Lovejoy School District. One of the most sough after school districts in Texas
- We are the only McKinney neighborhood in Lovejoy school district. One of the benefits is we are on McKinney sewer systems. All other homes in the area are septic
- We are the lowest $ per square foot in our area
- We have a brand new pool with full transferrable warranty
- We have a new roof
- We back up to a wildlife preserve so there is tons of privacy with zero neighbors behind you
We just did a 3D tour of our home which turned out pretty cool. You can see it below.

Through all of this I cannot say enough amazing things about our realtor Lynda Roundtree with Luxe Premiere Realty. She has been absolutely incredible. She has been there every step of the way helping us navigate this challenging time. If you are looking for a realtor, I cannot recommend Lynda more. She is amazing. This process has been stressful and I don’t know what we would have done without her!
I get asked all the time why we are moving. We absolutely love our home and it was not an easy decision to move, however we just decided we wanted something different. We are just moving a mile down the street, but wanted more land and a different style home. We are building a 1 story home on a completely wooded lot that will be more of a cottage style home. I cannot wait to share more details on that. The custom home process has been slow, but we are on the final stages of finalizing our floor plan. I will share all the details of that process soon. It has been fun, but so much work and takes so much time.
I will keep you all posted as we go through this process, but wanted to give you a little house selling update as to what is going on over here! Hope you are all well and staying safe.
