House Selling Update

Hi friends. I have had lots of questions about our home status like. . .has it sold?  When are you building the next one? Where are you moving in the mean time?, etc.  So today I though I would give you a house selling update!

House selling update

Unfortunately, our house has not sold yet.  When we originally put our house on the market we decided to try to sell on our own.  We put our home on MLS, etc, but didn’t have an actual realtor attached to our listing.  Geoff does real estate work (he is not an agent), so he has done lots of contract work, etc and we decided to give it a shot.  Hindsight is 20/20, but if we had to do it again, we would not have done that.  We started out listed too high (we have reduced our price significantly) and I think we wasted some time during the busy selling season.  Oh well, you live your learn.

OUR REALTOR

After being on the market a couple months on our own, we decided to hire a realtor.  We asked around and the same name came up time and time again . . . Lynda Roundtree with The Grisak Group.  The Grisak Group is the #1 agent in the area for the last 18 years!  Lynda was a former Lawyer and has been a realtor close to 10 years.  She is amazing to work with and we couldn’t be happier.  You can tell she is super passionate about what she does, cares about her clients and provides amazing customer service.  If you are looking for a local realtor I highly recommend her!  I so wish we would have hired her from the beginning.

Not all realtors are created equal.  I am so impressed by the services provided by Grisak.  Once we hired Lynda she came out to our home with a professional stager that walked through our entire home and made suggestions on what we needed to do.  It was so helpful.  It is hard to remove yourself from your home because it is so personal.  Staging is different than decorating.  It is basically removing tons of things so that your home stands out, not your decor.  I removed several pieces of furniture, took down tons of decor and depersonalized everything.  Then a professional copywriter came to our home and took notes on everything so she could write the most beautiful description of our home.  They also created the most beautiful, multi-page booklet on our home.  I shared it on Instagram Stories.  I am not going to lie, after seeing everything and reading it, I am like. . .should we really move?. . .Our house is amazing!  HAHA.  It truly is, we love our home, but excited about the next chapter and for a new family to enjoy it.

So there is our house selling update, you are now up to speed on where we are at.  We are not starting our new build until we sell our current home.  Once we sell our current home we will move into a rental for a year+ until our new home is built.  I cannot wait to get that process started and fill you in on all the details.

We love our builder and I will be sharing his info with you soon as well.  We are currently tweaking some things to get the floorplan/design just right so that when we do sell our home, we can get started quickly on the next one.  I would like to be in a rental as short as possible!
