Every now and then when I am out hunting for furniture I find a piece that stops me in my tracks. This HUGE antique sideboard was definitely one of those pieces. It is 9.5 ft long and just stunning! Sometimes older pieces are too ornate for my taste, but this piece had just the right details. It is made incredibly well (it weighs a ton) and in great condition. I couldn’t wait to get my hands (and paint) on it.
BEFORE:
I wanted to keep the top the natural wood color. We sanded the top down to the natural wood with my favorite sander, but left some of the original stain in the edges to give it some dimension. We mixed a brown matte glaze to put on the top to pull out the grain and protect it.
We painted the piece in flat Valspar Ultra White and rubbed a brown glaze over the top to make it look more vintage. A little sanding around the edges for some light distressing completed the look.
I am in LOVE with this piece. I wish I had a spot in my own home for it.
It is 112″ wide, 24.5″ deep, 40″ tall
This piece would make an amazing double sink vanity in a master bathroom!
