I love art in a home. It helps your home tell a story and look collected. I love the look of vintage oil paintings in different antique frames throughout rooms and hallways. You can find lots of amazing pieces antiquing and thrifting. Vintage art ranges in prices and takes awhile to collect. One trick I love to do is use vintage art prints! It is inexpensive and looks so good. Here are all the details and my favorite resources on prints, frames, etc.
My home is a collection of art from all different places. Some are antiques that were in my family, some were found at antique stores, estate sales, marketplace finds, etc, but many of them are inexpensive art prints. The cool thing is if I didn’t tell you, you’d probably never know. Art prints can look so good and there are a few tricks I have learned to make them look even better.
Etsy is an amazing resource for art prints. Some shops print them and send them to you, some are digital downloads that you have printed yourself. I have done both. When printing yourself it is very important to use the right technique. Giclee prints are the way to go. It is a technique that is way more precise and gives the art a very detailed, authentic look. The paper used is also very important. You want thick paper and I like mine to have texture. More about that later on.
KRISTA KIM STUDIO:
Krista Kim Studio is one of my favorite Etsy Shops. I have several of her pieces in my home. She does amazing original oil paintings and creates prints of them for purchase. Her art is not a digital download, she sends it printed and her quality is amazing. The paper is thick and textured and looks so so real! I will continue to add more of her pieces to my home! So far the paper she prints on is my absolute favorite. One trick to make these look even more like paintings is to take the glass out of the frame. It looks so much better. Also, I use Command velcro when hanging on tile. I have a whole post coming about the way I hang things soon!
I have her fruit/vegetable still life prints in my kitchen and they continue to be a top seller for me. Yall love them too!

I have used several other Etsy prints in my home. I have 3 equestrian art pieces that I got recently and the were all printed through the shop and mailed. The first was a vintage polo poster. You can get it in a variety of sizes, but I ordered the 20×30. I framed it in this Amazon frame. I kept the glass on it since it was a poster and not a painting.
The next 2 are equestrian art prints from PRINTS FARM. They have an amazing selection to choose from and the most amazing customer service. One print had a scratch on it and they replaced it right away, no problem. It was really hard to pick my design because there were so many good ones, but I ended up going with these horse prints. I got them in 18×24 and framed them in Hobby Lobby frames when they were on sale. I also removed the glass from these.
The fox hunt framed prints I have are original antiques that I found from an estate through Marketplace. There were a set of 6 and they are amazing. The smaller hunt prints were in my family and also original antiques. They have the glass on them to protect them. There a a bunch of fox hunt prints on ETSY that will give you a similar look. ***IF YOU ARE STARTING A GALLERY WALL AND DON’T KNOW WHERE TO START, THIS IS A GREAT WAY*** Several shops offer Gallery walls already put together. This is one of my FAVORITES
ETSY DIGITAL DOWNLOADS:
The above prints I shared all come on printed paper, several of my art pieces are digital downloads. That means you pay a very low price (typically $3-$6) and the print downloads on to your computer. From there you use a printing service to print them for you. These can be printed lots of ways. For a super cheap quick print, you can print from your own home computer. If you do this I recommend doing it on textured scrapbook or resume paper. It looks better. This is NOT what I would recommend though as it does not look very quality. It is just a quick option. You can also print at Walgreens, etc, but again, not as good of quality.
My preferred method is MPIX. They offer Giclee prints and they do a great job! I choose the Fine Art Photographic paper. It is a thick matte paper with a slight texture. I think it looks the most real. You just upload the image you downloaded from Etsy, pick your size, your paper, etc and then they will ship it to you.
I have done this for several art pieces in my home.
POOL BATH:
I wanted a vintage “pool” painting for this space. I found this one and it was perfect. I printed it on Mpix, used one of my favorite Amazon frames and a little Rub & Buff and it was all set.
LAUNDRY ROOM:
I did another digital download for this beautiful vintage laundry print for my laundry room. Again, I printed it on Mpix and then used an old frame I found.
MUDROOM:
I found some cute vintage frames at an antique store, but didn’t like the art in them, so I removed it and did my own. I had a custom matte cut at Hobby Lobby for the swan print and the 2nd print I printed to size. The swan came already printed and the vintage landscape print I downloaded and had printed through Mpix. I kept the glass on the top frame and removed it for the 2nd frame just to mix it up.
TARGET ART:
I have found some great art at Target. It is already framed and ready to be hung. Some are textured, some are smooth, but overall they look great and the prices are wonderful.
One trick I have heard about, but haven’t tried yet, is adding clear matte Mod Podge on top of smooth prints. You can layer it on and it dries clear giving the print more texture and making it look more like an actual painting. I may try this on some these fruit art pieces. They look fine without it, but may look cool!
This pear print keeps selling out, but every now and then they restock so be on the look out. I paired it with a piece I got at an estate sale!
Love this citrus art print. It also sells out really fast so if you see one, snag it!

Ok, I know I covered a ton of info, but hopefully that was helpful. You can find any type of art no matter what your style is on Etsy and use the same techniques I mentioned above. Also another tip, if the art isn’t too heavy I like to hang it with Command velcro. If it is too heavy, I will hang it with a nail, but use Command velcro at the bottom to keep it straight.
