My Favorite Bathtub & Bathroom Fixtures

January 18, 2023 By houseofhargrove@gmail.com

One of my favorite rooms in our new home is my bathroom!  I love the coziness of it, the spa like feel and how everything came together.  Here are all the details of my favorite bathtub & bathroom fixtures.

*Still waiting for my new mirror to arrive to go above the tub

I knew I wanted a gorgeous statement tub for our bathroom.  We had a specific wall where it would go and I wanted it to stand out.  Honestly, I have never been a huge bath person.  I had one more for looks, but ever since I got our new bathtub that has changed.  I use it almost every night!  It is so comfortable, the cast iron keeps the water extra warm and the faucet fixture makes it really easy to clean and rinse off.

I started researching tubs and fell in love with the Devon 67″ cast iron tub from Vintage Tub & Bath.  Vintage Tub & Bath had the best selection of products and the best pricing!  The Devon tub was stunning with simple clean, traditional lines and was fairly narrow so it didn’t overpower the room.  I just think it is the prettiest bathtub! It comes in several finishes and can also be done in any custom color of your choice including metallic!  They have a huge assortment of free standing tubs to choose from.  Check them out HERE.

Next, I knew I wanted a telephone style bath faucet!  They have the most beautiful vintage feel and are so practical.  I love that they have a faucet and shower option.  Based on the location of my tub we did a wall mount faucet.  There are many options such as tub mount, floor mount etc.  They also offer a package deal for the tub and faucet together.  I chose the chrome finish.

Not only is this faucet beautiful, but it is so practical.  One of the reasons I used to not enjoy taking a bath is when it was over I still felt dirty.  Like I had been sitting in dirty water and couldn’t wash my hair with clean water, etc.  With this faucet there is a lever in the middle that you can switch from bath to shower.  I take a bath and soak for awhile, then I wash my hair, use the shower faucet to rinse it out and then when I am draining the tub I use the shower to clean off just like a regular shower.  I absolutely LOVE it.  It also makes it very easy to bathe my kids and clean out the tub.  I have been seriously missing out without one of these.  This would have been amazing to have when my kids were babies!!  I used to just fill a cup and dump the water over their heads.

When it came time to look for plumbing for our guest bathroom my first stop was Vintage Tub & Bath.   Like I mentioned every time I would search online I would find the best options on their website and they had the most competitive pricing!  Our guest bath has a full glass door so I wanted to do a beautiful exposed pipe shower faucet.  These can range HUGE in price.  Like some are over $3,000!  I wanted something that had the vintage look, great water pressure and a reasonable price.  I found exactly what I was looking for in this fixture!  It was very similar to my master bath fixture with a large shower head.  I had read reviews on other types of exposed pipe showers that the water pressure wasn’t very good and I wanted to make sure to avoid that.  This shower set is incredible.  It is beautiful, it puts out tons of water at great pressure and you can switch to a hand held shower set as well.  My mom used this bathroom over Christmas and gave it rave reviews!

I love the vintage style!  It really helps make the look of the shower!  Here is a close up photo of the fixture.  You can see how similar it is to my bath one.  If you are looking for an affordable statement shower faucet look no further!  This one is incredible!

I seriously could not be more thrilled with the products we got from Vintage Tub & Bath.  It can be scary shopping online and purchasing without seeing these items in person especially when they are high ticket items.  It seems like more and more these days that is the option because there are less showrooms available.  I can tell you these items did not disappoint.  Also, the customer service was incredible!  We had to change the size of the pipes for our wall mount faucet so they didn’t stick out as far and they were absolutely wonderful about getting us everything we needed.  They also have sales from time to time with free shipping.  Currently you can save 10% and get free shipping on many of their items!

Please let me know if you have any questions about any of these products.  I will be having full reveals of both of these bathrooms soon!  Waiting on a few things like mirrors, drapes and wallpaper!

Thank you so much to Vintage Tub & Bath for sponsoring this post.  All opinions and reviews are my own.  I only share products and brands that I truly love!

When designing our home the kitchen was such an important space. We spend a lot of time in there. I wanted it to be beautiful and functional. Here are some of my favorite features in our kitchen.

I’ve been on the hunt for faux flowers for my outdoor pots and I finally found a winner!!

🌸 comment SHOP and I’ll send you the links

I kept spending lots of money each season on real flowers and it was so much work keeping them alive!

I was looking for a better option and finally found one!

These faux flowers are
•BEAUTIFUL ....always in bloom
•ZERO MAINTENANCE ...no watering, fertilizing, etc
•BUDGET FRIENDLY ...these are priced great and you don’t have to replace them each season
•AND LOOK REAL. Some faux flowers are bad!! These really look good and unless you dig in there you’d never know they are faux

Each pack comes in a bundle of 2 bunches. Each bunch has 7 stems. You can plant 2 ways and I tried both. You can plant the bundle attached together and bend the stems (they are wired) to spread everything out....or....you can cut the bundles apart and plant the stems individually. I ended up doing that and thought they looked more realistic that way. I ended up using 5 packages (10 bunches) for 2 large pots and 1 smaller pot.

I share both ways on IG stories so you can see the difference.

I also removed some soil and added floral foam blocks beneath, recovered with dirt and stuck the flowers in them. I don’t think this step was necessary, but I wanted to make sure they were in there firm.

I’m so excited I now get to enjoy beautiful flowers with zero work 🙌🏻🙌🏻

Last year, Geoff and I added wires up this wall in a diamond trellis pattern. We planted creeping fig, but unfortunately, it all died this winter. I just planted Star Jasmine in its place so really hoping it survives. Texas weather is hard!. Thanks to a little AI magic I was able to create what my ultimate vision is. Fingers crossed it will look like this in a couple of years.

I just learned that May 3 is World Naked Gardening Day 🤣 I seriously can’t believe there is a day dedicated to this, but maybe lots of people need fences 🤷🏼‍♀️😉🌱🌿

Yall I recently discovered you could make fun art on ChatGPT using your own images for free! @ciarakenaston inspired me with her Beatrix Potter images and I did a deep dive and found you can do so many cool things!

🩵 Download ChatGPT if you haven’t already and have fun!

Upload an image. Can be of your home, your family, etc and then type in prompts to have it alter your image. You can play around with it and try all kinds of things but here were my prompts for the video

1. Beatrix Potter inspired illustration
2. Jan Brett inspired illustration
3. Vintage oil painting
4. E.H. Shepard inspired illustration
5. Retro British cottage core style

If you do some be sure to share and tag me. I’d love to see them. Endless possibilities!!
