My Favorites: Beauty Addition

October 21, 2015 By Elaine

I love home decor….but I also love beauty products.  I am a true product junkie!  In college I was a make-up artist and freelanced for Smashbox, Laura Mercier, and Stila and I also worked at Sephora.  Then after college I was an assistant buyer in Cosmetics for Neiman Marcus.  I bought Chanel, Laura Mercier, Georgia Armani just to name a few.  Anyway, I have tried TONS and TONS of products!  It was my hobby and my job!
Below I am going to share just a few of my favs.  I will share more in the future.
 IMG_7185
DRY SHAMPOO
Why oh why did I not know about this until a year ago?  I truly think I have wasted a full year of time washing my hair that I didn’t need too!  This stuff is a miracle product!  It gives your hair volume, smells amazing and dries up all the oil in your hair.  I use this even on the days I wash and dry my hair.  There is not a day that goes by that I don’t use it.  I have tried several kinds…from super expensive to very cheap.  This one is my favorite!  It is inexpensive, smells amazing and WORKS!
MASCARA
You know the question….”if you could take one product with you on a deserted island what would it be?”  Mine would probably be mascara.  I mean deodorant and toothbrush would be first but if it was a beauty product…it would be mascara.  I leave the house all the time without make-up (due to one of my fav products below), but I NEVER leave without mascara!  It makes me look so much more awake.  This mascara below is my favorite and it is L’Oreal!  Steal right?!
CONCEALER
Luckily these days I don’t have to use much concealer.  It used to be a product I could not live without because my skin was TERRIBLE!  I mean I coated my face in concealer.  Today I just throw a little under my eyes, but no matter where you are on the spectrum of concealing this one by MAC is awesome!!  A little goes a long way and it looks natural!
BRONZER
When you are as pale as I am bronzer is your best friend! I mean Casper and I could be related.  Anyway it is hard to find one that looks natural and Too Faced Sun Bunny is awesome.  It has 2 colors that I mix together and it gives a natural warm glow
HIGHLIGHTER
I use this on my cheek bones and all over my eyelid.  It is a beautiful shimmer, but not over the top.  Gives a natural highlight.  MAC knows how to do it with their Soft/Gentle Mineralize Skinfinish.
EYE CREAM
Listen, who out there isn’t tired?!  As a mom of two kids the circles under my eyes could scare a raccoon.  Luckily this eye cream helps so much!  It reduces dark circles, puffiness and fine lines!  The perfect triple threat.  It feels so good when you put it on and makes me think for just a second I just had a nice spa treatment!  Who doesn’t want that at the end of a long day?!
You can purchase HERE
SKINCARE
My most favorite beauty product ever has to be Rodan Fields UNBLEMISH.  It may sound dramatic, but it literally changed my life.  I have always suffered from Acne.  No matter what I used I just couldn’t “fix” my skin.  From working in the industry I did I tried everything I could to help.  There were some products that worked from time to time, but nothing cleared my skin for good.  I used Acutane in my early 20s and this did work….until I got pregnant.  When I was pregnant with Avery I looked like I could have been on 16 and pregnant.  Seriously, I had pimples all over again!!
A friend introduced me to Rodan Fields and I really thought it was just another gimmick product, but I thought it was worth a shot since it had a 60 day $ back guarantee…I was desperate!  Well, it worked!  I mean really worked.  I have been using Rodan+Fields products every since!  I loved it so much and believe in it so much that I now sell the product.  I love helping others feel good about their skin like I now do.  For the first time in my life I will go to the pool, gym, etc without make up (and only mascara like mentioned above).
I also love their other products.  Now that I have cleared up my acne I am focused on sun damage and fine lines.
We have a product for all skin types

ACNE: UNBLEMISH

This is my actual photo!
SUN DAMAGE: REVERSE
SOOTHE: SENSITIVE SKIN
REDEFINE: AGING
Like I mentioned ALL of the products come with a 60 day $ back guarantee so it is risk free to try it!  Anyone who becomes a preferred customer this month gets our award winning self tanner for FREE!!!
Email me if you have any questions houseofhargrove@gmail.com
I would love to help you!
What are your favorite beauty products???

My grandson is 13 and the acne has started. I know it would be difficult to get a boy to follow a cleaning routine, but if he saw results, I am sure he would be encouraged. Football season is over now,so no more really dirty face at the end of the day. He is very handsome and I wish there was something that would help get rid of the acne. Suggestions?

Rodan Fiels Unblemish is my favorite, but it is an investment and I hear you about getting a 13 year old to follow a routine. Has he tried Proactiv? I know it has worked well for many many teenagers and it is a great price!!! I would start there and see if he gets results!

When designing our home the kitchen was such an important space. We spend a lot of time in there. I wanted it to be beautiful and functional. Here are some of my favorite features in our kitchen.

I’ve been on the hunt for faux flowers for my outdoor pots and I finally found a winner!!

🌸 comment SHOP and I’ll send you the links

I kept spending lots of money each season on real flowers and it was so much work keeping them alive!

I was looking for a better option and finally found one!

These faux flowers are
•BEAUTIFUL ....always in bloom
•ZERO MAINTENANCE ...no watering, fertilizing, etc
•BUDGET FRIENDLY ...these are priced great and you don’t have to replace them each season
•AND LOOK REAL. Some faux flowers are bad!! These really look good and unless you dig in there you’d never know they are faux

Each pack comes in a bundle of 2 bunches. Each bunch has 7 stems. You can plant 2 ways and I tried both. You can plant the bundle attached together and bend the stems (they are wired) to spread everything out....or....you can cut the bundles apart and plant the stems individually. I ended up doing that and thought they looked more realistic that way. I ended up using 5 packages (10 bunches) for 2 large pots and 1 smaller pot.

I share both ways on IG stories so you can see the difference.

I also removed some soil and added floral foam blocks beneath, recovered with dirt and stuck the flowers in them. I don’t think this step was necessary, but I wanted to make sure they were in there firm.

I’m so excited I now get to enjoy beautiful flowers with zero work 🙌🏻🙌🏻

Last year, Geoff and I added wires up this wall in a diamond trellis pattern. We planted creeping fig, but unfortunately, it all died this winter. I just planted Star Jasmine in its place so really hoping it survives. Texas weather is hard!. Thanks to a little AI magic I was able to create what my ultimate vision is. Fingers crossed it will look like this in a couple of years.

I just learned that May 3 is World Naked Gardening Day 🤣 I seriously can’t believe there is a day dedicated to this, but maybe lots of people need fences 🤷🏼‍♀️😉🌱🌿
