Design boards are such a helpful way to help you visualize a space. There are so many decisions to be made and you want to make sure everything flows together. I am making design boards for pretty much all the rooms in my home. Today I am sharing Braden’s Bathroom Design Board.
Braden’s bedroom will be very similar to his room in our old home and I wanted the bathroom to coordinate. I wanted simple and classic that can grow with him as he gets older. I like to go very timeless in my tile, etc because its harder to change down the road if I don’t like it. If I make a bolder choice it will typically be in paint colors, because it is such an easy fix. I decided to go bold on Braden’s cabinets.
I went back and forth between charcoal or navy for the cabinets. I had a vision in my head and then I came across Kate Knowles boys bathroom and knew navy was the right choice. Her design was so similar to the direction I was thinking. I just love her work!
I want his bathroom to be beautiful, masculine and functional . . . kind of a masculine nautical feel. I am doing white subway tile and 1″ hex flooring with grey grout so it doesn’t look dirty. The counters will be a simple quartz or porcelain in white and I will be mixing several metals and textures to add interest. I am planning on BM Hale Navy for the cabinets . . . I just need to see what it looks like in the space. Lighting makes all the difference. I don’t want anything too blue, more of a grey/navy.
I love brass accents, but want to make sure there are only hints of it in his bathroom. Sometimes brass can read a little feminine so I want to be careful about that. I may end up doing the mirror in matte black vs brass. Have to get everything else in there to make that decision.
Anyway, I am sure there will be a few tweaks at the finish line, but this is the direction I am going. So excited to see it all come together in person!

I love the bathroom! Can’t wait to see how it comes out! Question, How do you make your design boards? I had downloaded an app but it only allowed for items they had preloaded and direct from Pinterest.

I also am interested in knowing what you use to make your design boards. I signed up for Canva but I’m not even sure what I’m doing 😉 Thanks for any guidance. Yours look amazing!

I use Powerpoint. I also know that Picmonkey is a great tool to use. I have just used Powerpoint for years so I am very comfortable with it.
