Hi friends! One of the top questions I get asked about our new home is for details on the lighting! I promised I would get it together and put it all in 1 spot and here it is! We have still not moved in, many lights don’t have shades on them, we are missing lightbulbs, many shades still have plastic on them, they haven’t been polished, etc so when you are looking at my actual photos keep that in mind. Once the house is complete I will have tons of photos of our lighting, but I wanted to get this together quickly since there have been so many questions.
A home really comes together when all the details go in. Lighting is sooo important to get the look and feel you are going for. I am all about the look for less, but in some areas, it makes a big difference to get the real deal. Especially when it comes to brass lighting. Brass finish is super important. There is a wide range. Visual Comfort makes a gorgeous brass. It was very helpful in achieving the classic, timeless style I am going for. Some brass finishes are too yellow, too brown, too glossy, etc. This is an area I would spend more money in. Especially in the main rooms.
I definitely used some look for less lighting, but it was in secondary bedrooms, bathrooms, etc. If you are using chrome and rubbed bronze fixtures it is much easier to do the look for less. We mixed some of our finishes, but the majority was brass. Here are all of the details:
- CLOSET CHANDELIER
- 1ST ENTRY LIGHT
- GAME ROOM LIGHT
- 2ND ENTRY LIGHT
- HEARTH ROOM LIGHTS
- FAMILY ROOM CHANDELIER

I have the hardest time with ceiling fans, because I don’t like the way the look, but they are super functional. This is a time where function beats form! I tried to get ones that were as traditional as possible! I don’t want anything “cute” that draws the eye. Just kind of want them to disappear.
Ok, there you have it. . . all of our lighting in 1 spot! Hope you found this helpful. I am so excited about all of these lighting choices!
