I am so excited to share our patio reveal with yall today. We absolutely love this space and use it all the time. I can only imagine how much we will use it once we get warmer swimming weather! Here are all the details!
Living in Texas outdoor living is a huge priority. We have nice weather a majority of the year so it is space that can really be used all year long. When designing our new home, we put a lot of thought into this space. We wanted an area that we would use a lot and would basically be an extension of our home. You can see our Patio Design Board HERE. I wanted the space to feel very southern! Neutral with pops of blue and green.

Our backyard is kind of shaped like an L and we put the patio along the side of the house so that we had a clear view from our living room windows and got lots of natural light. Our last home had the patio across the back windows and it really cut off how much light we got in our family room.
You enter our patio from the 2 doors on either side of our hearth room or 3 french doors off the game room. We decided to invest in outdoor screens and it was one of the best decisions we made. We went with 95% thickness which keeps climate control. They are black with white trim and they are inset into our columns. In the winter we are able to turn the heaters on (we put 2 in our ceiling) and open all the doors and it keeps the heat in, in the summer it is the opposite, we can cool it down and basically it becomes another room on our home when the screens are down. Not only does it control temperature, but a HUGE benefit is the bug control. We love to eat out there and with the screens down we have no bugs. We love to entertain and this has been amazing. We have already hosted poker nights, game nights, girls nights, etc out there. This is also Geoff and my favorite spot to go when we put the kids to bed. It kind of feels like we have gone on a date somewhere even though we are at home.

The screens can be raised and lowered with a click of a button. We added a permanent screen door so that when the screens are down we can go in and out the door without having to raise a screen and let bugs/temperature in. This has been another great feature! Many nights we have the screens down and all the doors to our home open. It is really nice and makes for great flow. We have the 2 doors in the hearth room, a door to the pool bath and 3 french doors off the game room.
Since we knew we would be using this space as an extension of our home, we wanted it to be upgraded and more like a sunroom. We did extra molding and trim, bluestone floors, a blue ceiling and furniture that felt like it could also be inside our home. I cannot tell you how much we love the furniture we picked. We got a great indoor/outdoor rug from Target, a Frontgate coffee table that I found on Facebook Marketplace and the most comfortable outdoor seating! I cannot say enough about about it. It is beautiful, affordable, stain resistant, soft, cozy and has so many configuration options. I was looking at a set from Restoration Hardware that was seriously like 5 times the cost of the one we got and I couldn’t love it more! If you need outdoor seating, look no further! We got 2 of the extra large sofas, but you can also add extension pieces and make it as large as you want. You can also get a sectional piece and create a sectional. They also have a standard sofa size. We also got 2 of the rocking swivel chairs.
We hung our TV above our fireplace and then decorated with these amazing planters and preserved boxwood ball topiaries. These are some of my favorite things and definitely a best seller. They are real plants so they look amazing, but they have been preserved so it is zero maintenance. You don’t have to water or anything and they last forever! I had them at my last house for over 9 years! Definitely worth it!!
We also decided to use 2 tables on our patio so we had tons of flexibility. We can put them together as 1 really long table, we can put them sideways for 2 separate tables, we can combine them and make a really large square table. . .this has been wonderful and we have used them all the ways I just mentioned! The tables are already large, but they each have a leaf as well so we can seat tons of people! I got them at a local store, but have linked similar tables HERE and HERE. We used indoor tables since they are under a covered patio. Around the tables we used these wonderful indoor/outdoor chairs. They are beautiful, washable, affordable and comfortable!
I found this great marble top table at Big Lots of all places. It is great for extra storage. I kept the decor simple with pretty bottles, art, lamp, etc.

We also have an outdoor kitchen and Geoff has been grilling more for us which has been fun! I see lots of hot dog/hamburger pool days in our future!
