Our floors just got stained and I am so excited. It added so much warmth to our home. Sharing all the details of our wood floor stain below.
We did 6″white oak solid wood plank floors that you can read all about HERE. I love the way they look, but knew I wanted them stained. Natural, light white oak floors are really popular right now and they are very pretty, but not the look I was going for. We want our home to feel much older so we went with traditional, classic, medium brown floors.
We have a lot of wood flooring so getting the color right was very important. Not too red, not too yellow, not too dark, etc. Basically the Goldilocks of floor stain. You can see below we tried many different options, but we chose Duraseal stain in Provincial. It was the perfect medium brown for what we were looking for.
We have a lot of wood flooring so getting the color right was super important and I am so pleased with the way they turned out. They feel old like they have been around forever which is what we wanted.
I snuck into the house last weekend to grab pictures before they covered all the flooring. All of these photos are taken from spots where I could stand on tile and not have to walk on them. The floor people will do one final coat of Satin poly over the floors right before we move in.
Hopefully the swatches of our wood floor stain I shared above will be a helpful starting point if you are looking to stain your floors. Also know that the color looks different if you have red oak floors. Definitely get lots of swatches before you decide!
