Coolest Wallpaper & Fabric Resource

March 17, 2023 By houseofhargrove@gmail.com

I am so excited to start sharing my wallpaper with yall.  It was recently installed and I am in love.  There are lots of places to get wallpaper, but I am going to share one of my favorite resources with you today. . . Spoonflower!  Spoonflower is the coolest website with unlimited options that can be customized to meet your needs.  They have wallpaper, fabric, home decor, etc.  Everyone needs to know about Spoonflower!

As yall know I had been dying to get our wallpaper installed.  It is so hard to find a good installer and when you do, they are typically booked several months.  I had one all lined up that cancelled on me right before Christmas so I went with someone else and had to start the waiting game over.  Anyway, it is all installed and I am in love.  Wallpaper makes such a huge difference in a home and gives it such personality.  I know wallpaper had a bad wrap for awhile, but it is a classic that when done right, is timeless!

I have wallpaper in several areas of my home and want to continue to add more.  I searched high and low to find exactly what I was looking for and found a few top sources that I LOVE.  I will continue to reveal my wallpaper, but today I am talking about my butlers pantry and mudroom.  The wallpaper I used was from Spoonflower in both of these rooms.  Spoonflower is a website that prints custom fabric, wallpaper and home decor.  Designers add their designs onto the Spoonflower website and you can order wallpaper or fabric from those designs.  If you are a designer you can also sell your own designs on Spoonflower or upload something you want turned into wallpaper/fabric.  There are endless opportunities.

You can order samples to make sure everything is exactly how you want before you place your order.  I ordered tons of samples and this was so helpful.  Not only are there tons of styles/colors, but here are different types of material.  Wallpaper comes in 4 types. Prepasted smooth wallpaper, peel and stick, non-pasted traditional pebble and grasscloth. Fabric has 25 different options!

There is truly something for everyone and every style.  There are so many options it can be overwhelming so they offer ways to narrow your search by color, style, etc.  After spending tons of time on the site, I fell in LOVE with Danika Herrick.  She is one of the designers on the site and her style is incredible.  She is also a Spoonflower ambassador and shares the most helpful tips on her Instagram page to help you pick fabric materials, etc.  I had the pleasure of speaking with her directly and she is also the absolute sweetest person!  So so talented!

Danika has tons of designs on her site and they come in so many color variations.  She also offers the ability to customize a design.  She can change the size, the repeat, the colors, etc.  You can truly become your own designer and get exactly what you want.  You can color match to paints, fabrics, etc.  She helped me get the perfect designs for my home.  I tried a bunch of different samples and finally narrowed it down to a selection for my butlers pantry ceiling and my mudroom.  I absolutely love the way they turned out.

BUTLER’S PANTRY CEILING:

In my butler’s pantry I wanted a classic buffalo check.  Danika custom color matched my cabinets and scaled the size of the check to be exactly what I needed.  We tried a couple different sizes, but decided on the 2″ squares.  My exact custom paper is HERE.  I chose the prepasted smooth option.

I absolutely love the way it turned out.  Your ceiling is the 5th wall and a great spot to do something fun in a room.  The wallpaper just pulls it all together!

MUDROOM:

The next room we used wallpaper was our mudroom.  I wanted a pop of color in there and wallpaper was the perfect way to do it.  I went with Thistle Stars in blue and it turned out exactly like I was hoping! It is the prettiest shade and the white block print patterns really ties it all together.  It is fun and classic.  I also did the smooth prepasted paper in here.  Spoonflower is designed to have a small overlap in their paper.  I was a little concerned about what that would look like, but you cannot tell at all!  It helps with pattern matching and that so when it dries and shrinks a little there is no gap in the paper.

If you are looking for wallpaper or fabric I highly suggest checking out Spoonflower.  It is such an amazing resource for your decorating needs!  I already have several new fabric items I am looking at for new pillows and drapes in our home.  I will continue to share as I add more!

When designing our home the kitchen was such an important space. We spend a lot of time in there. I wanted it to be beautiful and functional. Here are some of my favorite features in our kitchen.

I’ve been on the hunt for faux flowers for my outdoor pots and I finally found a winner!!

🌸 comment SHOP and I’ll send you the links

I kept spending lots of money each season on real flowers and it was so much work keeping them alive!

I was looking for a better option and finally found one!

These faux flowers are
•BEAUTIFUL ....always in bloom
•ZERO MAINTENANCE ...no watering, fertilizing, etc
•BUDGET FRIENDLY ...these are priced great and you don’t have to replace them each season
•AND LOOK REAL. Some faux flowers are bad!! These really look good and unless you dig in there you’d never know they are faux

Each pack comes in a bundle of 2 bunches. Each bunch has 7 stems. You can plant 2 ways and I tried both. You can plant the bundle attached together and bend the stems (they are wired) to spread everything out....or....you can cut the bundles apart and plant the stems individually. I ended up doing that and thought they looked more realistic that way. I ended up using 5 packages (10 bunches) for 2 large pots and 1 smaller pot.

I share both ways on IG stories so you can see the difference.

I also removed some soil and added floral foam blocks beneath, recovered with dirt and stuck the flowers in them. I don’t think this step was necessary, but I wanted to make sure they were in there firm.

I’m so excited I now get to enjoy beautiful flowers with zero work 🙌🏻🙌🏻

Last year, Geoff and I added wires up this wall in a diamond trellis pattern. We planted creeping fig, but unfortunately, it all died this winter. I just planted Star Jasmine in its place so really hoping it survives. Texas weather is hard!. Thanks to a little AI magic I was able to create what my ultimate vision is. Fingers crossed it will look like this in a couple of years.

Yall I recently discovered you could make fun art on ChatGPT using your own images for free! @ciarakenaston inspired me with her Beatrix Potter images and I did a deep dive and found you can do so many cool things!

🩵 Download ChatGPT if you haven’t already and have fun!

Upload an image. Can be of your home, your family, etc and then type in prompts to have it alter your image. You can play around with it and try all kinds of things but here were my prompts for the video

1. Beatrix Potter inspired illustration
2. Jan Brett inspired illustration
3. Vintage oil painting
4. E.H. Shepard inspired illustration
5. Retro British cottage core style

If you do some be sure to share and tag me. I’d love to see them. Endless possibilities!!
