Our family went to Disney World a couple weeks ago and had such an amazing time. Avery had a few days off school for Fall break so it was the perfect time to go. This was Braden’s first time to Disney & Avery’s 2nd. We were so exited to go as a complete family for the first time and during the Fall with all the fun Halloween decorations. Our family LOVES Halloween. We had such an amazing time so today I will recap part 1 of our trip. . .warning. . .lots of pictures!
DISNEY WORLD: PART 1
We were there 6 nights and it was the perfect amount of time. We were able to do everything we wanted to do, with some slower days mixed in so we didn’t completely wear ourselves out. Braden is only almost 4 and although he doesn’t nap everyday, with all the activity at Disney, we wanted to leave time for a nap if we needed one.
DAY 1: TRAVEL, DISNEY SPRINGS
The first day we got in around 4 so we checked into our hotel, got ready and then went to dinner. We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside (the same hotel we stayed at last time) and we really like it. It is a moderate Disney hotel and it works great for us. We upgrade so we are in one of the closer rooms to the bus stop. The monorail would be nice, but it just wasn’t worth the extra $2k to us personally. That night we went to Disney Springs (formerly Downtown Disney) and ate dinner at TREX. Braden loves dinosaurs so we thought he would love it. I will say, he did like it, however, he got pretty scared during some of the stuff. We learned on this trip that our kids scare pretty easily! Ha!
Braden snuggling with Daddy & getting the thumbs up that he survived the “thunderstorm”. Every 20 minutes or so it would “storm” and all the dinosaurs would move/make noise (pretty much exactly like Rainforest Cafe) and he got pretty scared. We got great snuggles though so that was one of the perks.
After dinner, we went to the dinosaur dig at the restaurant and the kids loved that, then we walked around Disney Springs and took in all the decor, the music, etc.
One of the cool things about staying at Port Orleans is you can take a ferry to Disney Springs. After some Monster Mash and Thriller we were all wiped and headed back to get ready for our first full day. There really is magic in Disney because look at these 2 snuggling! Check out their hands. LOVE!!
DAY 2: MAGIC KINGDOM
We woke up bright and early and headed to Magic Kingdom. We had such a special day. The kids love Magic Kingdom, there is just so much to do here. They also loved all the Halloween/Fall decor. Like I mentioned, our kids are scared of most rides. We didn’t know this before we arrived. This park was really great for them. They loved all the rides that had “no drops” ;).
Disney shadows.
Fun at the teacups!
Braden was so excited to meet Buzz!! He was so great. Avery had on a flippy sequin shirt he kept playing with. The kids thought it was hilarious!!
Disney pretzel with cheese sauce for the win!
This picture sums up Avery’s thoughts on Splash Mountain. She rode it when she went to Disney the first time (she was almost 4) and I think it scarred her for life. HAHA. She would have no part of it this time.
We had fun all morning/early afternoon and then went back for a quick nap, freshened up and then went back to Magic Kingdom for the evening fun. We had dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern and OMG. . .it was delicious! It was family style thanksgiving type of food. I mean, the stuffing, potatoes, turkey, etc were amazing!!
Braden loved the light show, but was not a huge fan of the fireworks. They were so beautiful, but LOUD.
We had a full, amazing day and the minute we hit the bus the kids passed out. Sign of a great day!
DAY 3: ANIMAL KINGDOM & MICKEY’S NOT SO SCARY HALLOWEEN PARTY
We made sure to be at the park at opening to run over to PANDORA: Avatar Flight of Passage! We didn’t have a fast pass and this ride fills up crazy quick. Even with being there at opening there was an hour wait. Once we got in line people kept piling in and it was a 3 hour wait in no time!! YIKES! Anyway, this ride was amazing. Like, WOW! We did a kid swap pass here because our kids did not want to ride so I went and Geoff watched the kids, then they let him go in the fast pass line while I watched the kids. This is a great option that Disney allows! This entire area of the park was just breathtaking.
We went on the safari ride. . .
played hide and go seek with Pluto. . .
and then headed back to our hotel to change clothes and become. . .THE INCREDIBLES. Us and about 4527 other Incredible families headed to Magic Kingdom for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party.
We hit up a few rides and then went to dinner at Crystal Palace with Winne the Pooh and Friends.
We had a great time at this event. The park was so beautiful, there were dance parties, all the characters were in costume, the trick or treating was insane (I mean each stop put handfulls of candy in your basket), certain rides were made “spooky” for the party (like the teacups had Halloween music and spooky lights), the parade was incredible, I loved the Sanderson Sisters show (Hocus Pocus is my favorite) and the Halloween light show fireworks were the perfect end to the night. I am so glad we went to this! We talked about it for days.
The first part of our Disney World trip was action packed. We made so many memories! I love the age my kids are for Disney. They still get wrapped up in the magic of everything. I will share part 2 of our Disney trip later this week!
I got several questions about the kids clothes from the trip so here are links to several of the outfits!
