We did a few tweaks to Braden’s bedroom when we moved into the farmhouse. We stuck with the theme we had in our last house which was vintage sports. Honestly, I am not a huge “theme room” person. I don’t love when everything coordinates (sheets, match curtains, match laundry basket, etc). To me that looks babyish. I like creating classic spaces that can grow with them. While we do have a lot of sports items in his room, we did it in a way that could be for all ages, not just a little kid. I love his room. It is classic, all boy and has tons of special meaningful items in his room. Cannot wait to share the details with you.
When I first put together Braden’s big boy room he was around 3 years old. He loved it, but he asked me for some fun sports sheets for his room when we moved into the new house. That kid LOVES sports. I found the cutest sheets (similar linked) at Walmart that are perfect for his room. I always find the best stuff at Walmart and his whole room is basically from there minus a few vintage items. It is my go to for great home items at wonderful prices.
I went ahead and got him a new comforter to match his new sheets. I saw this quilted, flannel option that I loved. It was super soft, added some texture and was a great price. Braden loves the bedding changes and I not only love the way it looks, but love that it was ONLY $35 (for a full/queen including 2 matching shams). I also found this adorable football pillow for $10!! Updating bedding is such an easy way to transform a room.
His bed and nightstands (similar nightstands here) are also from Walmart. This vintage metal bed is my favorite. I love it so much I bought the same one for our guest room. We have the Antique Dark Bronze color, but there are so many color options available. There’s also a huge variety of metal beds available, something for everyone. I also found these great chalkboard baskets to go in the nightstands to hold extra items like blankets, books, etc. The baskets come with a set of 2 and could be used for so many different things. They are a great size.
In Braden’s old bedroom we had a window seat area with drawers below for extra storage. In this home we didn’t have that and we needed another great little storage piece to complete his room and store some of his things. There were several different options to choose from, but this one was perfect for our needs and less than $100. To make it a little more custom looking I added these metal hardware tabs to it. It was such an inexpensive update and I think it make the piece look so much more expensive! I added little labels like Toys, Lovies and Stuff to organize his things.
Another thing we needed for his room was a rug. I found this wool and jute one and it was perfect. I loved it so much I also bought one for my hearth room. The one in Braden’s room is natural jute with grey wool woven together. It is beautiful and soft. The perfect rug for his room. The one in our hearth room is natural jute and ivory wool.
I used the same engineered art and vintage postal piece from his last bedroom.
I found vintage sports items and books to use in his room for decor. All the photos around the room are of Braden playing sports or his daddy playing sports as a young kid. I love that you can look around his room and see Geoff as a kid with Braden’s grandparents as coaches. So special to have those things. One of the frames has an old newspaper cut out from when Geoff’s team got in the paper.
Another fun vintage item in this room is the trunk at the end of Braden’s bed. That is my dad’s trunk (Braden’s Pop Pop) from when he was in the military. It has my dad’s nickname and everything on there. So special that we get to have that.
I have shared this saucer chair before, but if you have a kid these are a must! They are so comfortable, can fold flat for easy moving and my kids love them. Braden has one in grey and Avery has one in blush. My kids love to read in these chairs or move them to the playroom to watch movies. I want to get a few extra ones for when friends come over because they are so easy to store. Just fold them flat and stick them in a closet. Way easier than bean bag chairs or something. We also swear by this star light that projects on the ceiling. It is always a Christmas gift suggestion I give every year. It spins around on the ceiling and transforms a room. You can pick colors and set a timer, etc.
Thanks so much for touring Braden’s Bedroom. We love this space and it really feels like home.

I have always loved this bed! After reading your post I decided to order it for our guest room! Can’t wait to redo the room since it is currently being used as a storage room.
