FARM to Kitchen

April 4, 2016 By houseofhargrove@gmail.com

I am so excited to partner with World Market today, one of my go-to stores, and share some of my favorite items with you.  All opinions here are my own.  This post contains affiliate links…if you purchase I may receive a small commission.  Thank you.

When I think of a farmhouse I think of country living: baking, sweet tea, lemonade stands, running in fields, barns, vintage decor, fireflies….and spending time with family.  One day I dream of owning my own farmhouse….until then I love adding farmhouse elements to my home…and you can too!  Today I am talking all about the heart of the home…the kitchen.  It is where most of us spend the majority of the time and make lots of memories.  Here are some easy ways to add the farmhouse feel to your kitchen.  Perfect timing because World Market is having their first ever kitchen sale…25% off ALL cookware, storage, utensils, cookbooks and more!  Use CODE SAVEBIG10 for an extra 10% off!!

Many times when you see decorating photos you see them shot for beautiful editorial photos, but they are not exactly practical.  We all have areas of our home where we need things out that we use all the time.  The kitchen sink is definitely one of these areas.  I don’t know about you, but it is just not practical for me to hide all the things I use 10 times a day…I need them close with easy access.  The cool thing though is there are ways to make these items look good!  Here I use a simple stand to put my favorite hand soap on.  The pedestal stand is super cute and the soap comes in an adorable mason jar.  For all my other “essentials” I use this industrial hardware bin.  Not only does it look good, but it spins around so everything is easily accessible.  Dish brushes, sponges and my favorite dish soap fit perfectly in here.  I wish you could smell through this screen because the Lavender Rosemary dish soap is just amazing!  It makes doing the dishes less of a chore..I said less…still a chore (wink)!

Here is another cute way to use the industrial hardware bin.  It is perfect for storing silverware.  Just use plain mason jars and now your silverware is decoration!  Pretty and practical!  The first time I saw this pie sign I fell in love with it.  Nothing says southern living like fresh pies!

I moved the sign around my kitchen because it looks great everywhere!  This 3 tier drying rack is one of my favorite items ever!  It is so cute and at less than $15 it is a steal of a deal!  It comes in this dark color and antique white!  It is one of the most asked about items in my home!  If you don’t have one yet…you need one!  Fill it up with adorable monogram mugs like this H one!

How cute is this galvanized metal caddy?!  Fill it with wine or your favorite flavored drinks.  World Market has great options for both!  I love their lemonade and flavored sodas.  I laughed out loud when I saw this greeting card.

“I want it all and I want it delivered”-Bette Midler

While I love baking in the kitchen with my daughter, I am not a huge cook so this spoke to me.  I just framed it in this farmhouse frame and it made the perfect art piece for my kitchen.

Now that our kitchens are getting the farmhouse look…its time to get our bake on!  Not only does World Market have amazing home decor items, but their kitchen tools and food are incredible!

FARMHOUSE KITCHEN: TOOLS & FOOD

My daughter and I spent the afternoon baking together with some great items we found at World Market.  We made sugar cookies and used these cute heart and mason jar cookie cutters to cut them out.  My favorite item was this home made stamp…I mean…how adorable.  Making some home made cookies and then attaching this stamp with a pretty ribbon would make a perfect gift!  The measuring spoons and cups are so pretty these days I would leave them out as decoration.  Along with these great cooking tools the sprinkles came from World Market.  There were lots of cute and yummy options!  We will definitely be cooking another treat this weekend out of this cookbook.  Lots of great dessert ideas in there.

Cute and delicious…the perfect combo!  They are all ready to go in this cute mason jar cookie jar.  I love the mason jar collection at World Market.  They make measuring spoons, measuring cups, utensil holders, spoon rest and cookie jars in multiple colors!

Next on the menu….Blueberry Scones!  I have heard nothing but amazing things about these scones so I had to give them a try and they did not disappoint.  As I mentioned…I don’t cook very much, but I love the idea of serving home made pastries to my family.  These are the perfect item….just add water, the mix,  pour them in this adorable scone dish and put in the oven!  That is my kind of cooking!  Easy & delicious! They have several flavors to choose from.

World Market really is a one stop shop for all your needs.  Need furniture, home decor, food, wine, gifts, wrapping paper??….they have it all.   I hope you all got some ideas on how to bring the Farmhouse feel into your home!  Scones for breakfast this week….it will be a huge hit!

When designing our home the kitchen was such an important space. We spend a lot of time in there. I wanted it to be beautiful and functional. Here are some of my favorite features in our kitchen.

I’ve been on the hunt for faux flowers for my outdoor pots and I finally found a winner!!

🌸 comment SHOP and I’ll send you the links

I kept spending lots of money each season on real flowers and it was so much work keeping them alive!

I was looking for a better option and finally found one!

These faux flowers are
•BEAUTIFUL ....always in bloom
•ZERO MAINTENANCE ...no watering, fertilizing, etc
•BUDGET FRIENDLY ...these are priced great and you don’t have to replace them each season
•AND LOOK REAL. Some faux flowers are bad!! These really look good and unless you dig in there you’d never know they are faux

Each pack comes in a bundle of 2 bunches. Each bunch has 7 stems. You can plant 2 ways and I tried both. You can plant the bundle attached together and bend the stems (they are wired) to spread everything out....or....you can cut the bundles apart and plant the stems individually. I ended up doing that and thought they looked more realistic that way. I ended up using 5 packages (10 bunches) for 2 large pots and 1 smaller pot.

I share both ways on IG stories so you can see the difference.

I also removed some soil and added floral foam blocks beneath, recovered with dirt and stuck the flowers in them. I don’t think this step was necessary, but I wanted to make sure they were in there firm.

I’m so excited I now get to enjoy beautiful flowers with zero work 🙌🏻🙌🏻

Last year, Geoff and I added wires up this wall in a diamond trellis pattern. We planted creeping fig, but unfortunately, it all died this winter. I just planted Star Jasmine in its place so really hoping it survives. Texas weather is hard!. Thanks to a little AI magic I was able to create what my ultimate vision is. Fingers crossed it will look like this in a couple of years.

Yall I recently discovered you could make fun art on ChatGPT using your own images for free! @ciarakenaston inspired me with her Beatrix Potter images and I did a deep dive and found you can do so many cool things!

🩵 Download ChatGPT if you haven’t already and have fun!

Upload an image. Can be of your home, your family, etc and then type in prompts to have it alter your image. You can play around with it and try all kinds of things but here were my prompts for the video

1. Beatrix Potter inspired illustration
2. Jan Brett inspired illustration
3. Vintage oil painting
4. E.H. Shepard inspired illustration
5. Retro British cottage core style

If you do some be sure to share and tag me. I’d love to see them. Endless possibilities!!
