I am a month out from my Mommy Makeover!! I had been dreaming about being a month out from surgery months before I even had it. I had heard at that point your life becomes more normal and I would totally agree with that statement! This was a huge turning point for me! Here are all the details from my Mommy Makeover: Week 4.
This was my final week with the foam! I have said it in all my other posts, but the foam padding was really hindering my process because I couldn’t wear normal clothes. I looked ridiculous. I was counting down all week until I could finally be done with it! I mean look below!! Very hard to hide that under clothing! It was super bulky.
Having said all that, I was feeling much better this week. I started driving and taking the kids to school every morning which was amazing. I honestly missed doing this. It gave me more freedom. I did make a quick Target run because Avery needed shoes for the Daddy Daughter dance. . . I just prayed I didn’t run into anyone inside :). Friday night I decided to take the foam off for a few hours and go to dinner with some girlfriends. It was incredible! I wore the foam 24/7 up until that point, but I figured a few hours here and there wouldn’t hurt. I also went to Braden’s soccer game on Saturday. Sunday night was my final night in the foam and Monday morning couldn’t come soon enough. I know this recap is about week 4, but I am writing it foam free in week 5 and it is life changing. My life is pretty much 100% back to normal. I am doing all the things, have my energy back, etc.
PAIN:
Honestly, the pain is not bad at all. I still don’t feel 100%, feel tender and tight, but it is all good. I am 100% off pain meds (and have been for a couple weeks) and can stand up so much straighter now. When I am moving around I feel pretty good. If I have been sitting for awhile or when I wake up in the morning it takes a little bit of time to “warm up”.
I will be starting scar therapy soon so I am excited to see how that helps my scar. It is very thin and low so in a bathing suit you wouldn’t’ even be able to see it. I am hoping the scar therapy makes it even more invisible though. It is still very pink which is totally normal.
My next recap will be after I have my follow-up doctor appointment (week 6/7). I will fill you in on things from now to then and what he says at the appointment. They say it takes 6 months- a year to get the final results so at this point it is just a waiting game. I am still swollen, but nothing like I was. The swelling is definitely worse at night and mostly in my lower stomach.
That is pretty much it for Mommy Makeover: week 4. Based on my experience I would definitely do this procedure again. It was not fun, and definitely takes commitment, but the results are already worth it and I am only a month out! Hopefully these “real life” recaps have been helpful!
