Fun, Easy Halloween Food

September 23, 2022 By houseofhargrove@gmail.com

Yall, it is fall and I am so excited.  It is my favorite season and one of the reasons is because of how much I love Halloween!  Growing up it was always one of my favorite holidays and my kids are totally into it too.  Today I am sharing some fun, easy Halloween food ideas for snacks, parties, etc.

I love doing fun things to celebrate holidays, especially ones that are easy and I know my kids will love and remember.  Food is a great way to do that and Walmart makes it so easy.  With everyday low pricing, the budget friendly Walmart brand and grocery delivery I can save time and money!  (new customers can use promo code TRIPLE10 to save $10 off their first three pickup or delivery orders. $50 min. Restrictions & fees apply.)

I hopped online, added everything to my cart and it arrived at my house within a few hours.  They have a great grocery pick up option as well where they run everything out to your car.  My kids were so excited when they got home from school and got to eat all of this for their snack!

Every year we host a Halloween get together at our house before we head out trick-or-treating and the food below has become staples.  Everyone loves them.  Tasty and so festive!  Here are some great ideas to try at your next party or if you want a fun evening at home.  Perfect for a Halloween inspired movie night as well!

TOMBSTONE DIP

This idea can be done on any of your favorite dips.  I happen to love the Marketplace Spinach & Artichoke dip!  It is pre-made and ready to go!  Walmart has lots of great pre-made dip options to choose from!  After you have picked your dip or dips, just take a large tortilla and cut out the tombstone shapes you want.  I used an Xacto knife, but you can use scissors as well.  Make sure to make them a little taller than normal so they can sit down in the dip a bit for stabilization.  Next, put the tombstone shapes on a cookie sheet and bake at 400 until golden brown.  Usually about 5-7 minutes.  You can get creative too and make spooky trees, etc.  After they are cooked, get a food safe marker and draw on the tombstones whatever you would like.  Serve with chips and you are done!

SPIDERWEB QUESO

Who doesn’t love queso?! Just add a spiderweb and it is ready for Halloween!  Black food coloring gel for the win!  And. . . a cute plastic spider of course!

FESTIVE PRETZEL KIT

Walmart has a ton of cute Halloween food kits.  This pretzel one was so much fun I am definitely going to pick up some more options.  These would make a fun family activity.  The pretzel one was super easy and delicious!  Everything in one kit. . .DONE!  We love to go “boo-ing” in our neighborhood and giving one of these kits would be a great “boo gift”.

GHOST FRUIT

This can be done with any fruit!  Just chop up your favorites, put on a bamboo skewer and then add a marshmallow.  You can add as many as you like.  Draw a face on the marshmallow with a food safe marker and you are all set.  Would also be cute with white chocolate pretzels between marshmallows to look like ribs on a skeleton!

SPOOKY CELERY

This one is fun and on the healthier side!  Anything I can do to help my kids eat healthier I am all for!  Celery, peanut butter, a candy eye and a plastic spider!  No more “ants on a log”…for Halloween it is “spiders on a log”

SICK PUMPKIN

Yes, it is gross, but is a kid favorite!  Spice up your guac with a sick pumpkin!

PUMPKIN ORANGES

Grab your nearest marker and make some jack-o-lantern art!  Kids love to help with this one.  You can also peel off the skin and add a small celery piece to the top to make a pumpkin.

COOKIES/TREATS

Walmart has a huge selection of pre-made holiday treats!  Cookies, cupcakes, popcorn. . .all kinds of things your guests will love.  I got these cute pumpkin sugar cookies and no Halloween party is complete without some good ole fashion candy corn.  Found this cute bowl at Walmart too!  Comes in 2 sizes.

JACK-O-LANTERN BALLOONS

Grab some orange balloons, a marker, some green ribbon and you are set.  Blow up you balloon, draw a face, tie some green ribbon at the top and you have quick, easy, cheap decor!

A few other details on what I used.  I have had this tray for years and use it all the time.  It is perfect for so many things including a snack tray!  Also this candle is one of my favorite fall candles.  I share it all the time.  It is less than $5 and smells amazing!  I shared some free printables HERE that you can use to make it even cuter!

Hope you found some ideas you can use with your own friends and family this Halloween season!  This time of year is busy, lets face it . . . life is busy, let Walmart help you save money and time.  Almost everything I shared above is the Walmart brand.  Everything tastes great and you cannot beat the prices!

Happy spooky season!

When designing our home the kitchen was such an important space. We spend a lot of time in there. I wanted it to be beautiful and functional. Here are some of my favorite features in our kitchen.

I’ve been on the hunt for faux flowers for my outdoor pots and I finally found a winner!!

🌸 comment SHOP and I’ll send you the links

I kept spending lots of money each season on real flowers and it was so much work keeping them alive!

I was looking for a better option and finally found one!

These faux flowers are
•BEAUTIFUL ....always in bloom
•ZERO MAINTENANCE ...no watering, fertilizing, etc
•BUDGET FRIENDLY ...these are priced great and you don’t have to replace them each season
•AND LOOK REAL. Some faux flowers are bad!! These really look good and unless you dig in there you’d never know they are faux

Each pack comes in a bundle of 2 bunches. Each bunch has 7 stems. You can plant 2 ways and I tried both. You can plant the bundle attached together and bend the stems (they are wired) to spread everything out....or....you can cut the bundles apart and plant the stems individually. I ended up doing that and thought they looked more realistic that way. I ended up using 5 packages (10 bunches) for 2 large pots and 1 smaller pot.

I share both ways on IG stories so you can see the difference.

I also removed some soil and added floral foam blocks beneath, recovered with dirt and stuck the flowers in them. I don’t think this step was necessary, but I wanted to make sure they were in there firm.

I’m so excited I now get to enjoy beautiful flowers with zero work 🙌🏻🙌🏻

Last year, Geoff and I added wires up this wall in a diamond trellis pattern. We planted creeping fig, but unfortunately, it all died this winter. I just planted Star Jasmine in its place so really hoping it survives. Texas weather is hard!. Thanks to a little AI magic I was able to create what my ultimate vision is. Fingers crossed it will look like this in a couple of years.

I just learned that May 3 is World Naked Gardening Day 🤣 I seriously can’t believe there is a day dedicated to this, but maybe lots of people need fences 🤷🏼‍♀️😉🌱🌿
